Sometimes I get tired of all the elitism and dickmeasuring on the GameFAQs forums. It's a cesspit of misogyny and homophobia, to boot. A lot of insults and things are against the TOS but apparently bashing women and gay people is fair game. I wish there was a good alternative community for Dragon's Dogma stuff.

(it's sort of interesting, lately, watching which gaming sites are making a concerted effort to welcome women - whether they are doing it well or not is a different question - and which ones are like LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU)

There was one post on the Dragon's Dogma boards a few weeks ago, asking 'how many girls play'. That topic went to hell in a handbasket. Cue lewd jokes, women hating on other women and saying they deserve the hate and should have to hide their gender because they're sick of women 'exploit' being female to 'get people to give them stuff', fat hate (going so far as to say fat women don't count as women), crude references to women's genitalia as 'loot', and guys comparing 'hot gamer girlfriends'.
And then the topic creator replied that they were glad this board wasn't sexist like so many others. And meant it unironically.
And the topic creator was female.
I just want to slam my head on my desk for a while.
