Even though I'm not particularly interested in MCR at this point in time, my heart still goes out to you -- and everyone who this news impacts, really -- because of this. It's always hard to watch a band you love go through hard times as it is, but it's even harder when those troubles result in losing a beloved member.
See, I think that's partially 'cause everyone was already hating on Ryan, you know? Well, okay, actually, I think that Panic handled the message part better...and the Panic! part of Panic (cough thank you Pete, cough) sis really well with giving us some stuff right away. Though it might have helped Ryan and Jon if the whole release-on-the-same-day thing hadn't happened...
And also, as augustfading said, there are still some of us that love 'em! :D
As you know, I only got into My Chem recently, but I still found this news very upsetting. I literally just watched the video diaries from LOTMS a few days prior to the message from Frank. Watching it completely verified everything you have said to me about the stability of the band. They clearly loved Bob so much. I just find this incredibly hard to believe. It is very disappointing but I'm not angry at any of them regardless of what happened. I'm just sad that Bob is gone... and again I was too late.
Oh man, I might have to go and watch LOTMS yet again, now. It's terribly sad, but I know Bob had his wrist problems, and who knows what else, and I really do think that it was Bob who wanted to leave, this time. And I'm quite sure it wasn't due to some great falling-out, which is very much not something I was sure of with PATD.
Oh, man, that really does keep happening to you, doesn't it? :(
This was not only the most shocking news ever to me, but also the most controversial to everyone around me. I wrote a whole LJ post on the deal because people are being ridiculous about it. I for one don't blame anyone. But details would be nice.
I definitely went back to the Rmy for a few minutes to see what was up with that, and I couldn't bear to read the entire thread, because drama is stupid, and also, I refuse to bate anyone ever in that band.
It's weird to think about, though. Like, everyone is very pro-Bob, anti-Matt. And I don't know what it was like when that change first occurred.
But I'm pretty sure that there were pro-Brent people who must have either learned to love Jon, or disappeared from the fandom, because everyone now professes their Matt-hate and Brent-hate, you know?
So what about people who become fans of MCR after all of this happened? Will they love whoever the new guy is and hate Bob? Will I strangle them through the computer screen if they insult him? Aaagh.
I guess I needed to duke it out to prove to myself how I really felt about it, so I dived into that fray and stood up for the boys.
Have you ever watched Things That Make You Go Mmm? There's this one guy who says Matt is a great drummer and a great guy and he has no idea why they kicked him out. It shook me up a little bit, and made me less anti-Matt.
I doubt anyone will really hate Bob, even if it turns out he was an ass or something. (though I doubt that.) The new fans will love the new drummer because it's who they know, and I think we'll learn to love him to, or at least appreciate him. The old fans will just wonder who Bob was and what things were like when he was around.
With Brent, I kinda feel like he wasn't there long enough when the band was well known. They didn't really have a fanbase until they were signed from what I can tell. I was into Panic before they were popular in my area, and I barely knew much about Brent.
I found out a few days after it happened, so I kind of missed the majority of that discussion...if I had been there for the worst of it, I probably would have joined in

(It's okay. Discussion is good!)
