This...this just about broke my heart. I got pulled into the story with Hotch's thinking. I felt like I was really listening to the unit chief's thoughts.

"Spencer looked up and met Jack's empathy-filled eyes. 'My mom died too,' Jack told him solemnly, 'It's okay to be sad.'

Oh Jack...*tears up a little bit*

Thank you! It was a lot harder for me to find Hotch's voice than it was to find Reid's; I'm glad it came through all right.

Oh Hotch. Oh Spencer. Oh Jack.

Way to go Jessica! (And Rossi, who is so made of awesome, btw).

This was heartwrenching. Hotch's love and desires, his decisions, his confusion -- he's really such a good man and he wants to do right by everyone. But that doesn't always work, does it? I loved the explanation of Spencer's crush and how that continued to grow and was eventually reciprocated. The remembrance of Hankel was heartbreaking, and Jack in the grocery story was sweetly poignant. Jessica was pretty awesome and hopefully managed to talk some sense into Hotch.

Oh Hotch, I think you have someplace to go...

I think that's the crux of who Hotch is: he tries (or tried) so hard to be the perfect agent-leader-father-husband that he doesn't realize that (1) it's impossible to be perfect all the time; and (2) it's okay if he falls short every once in awhile as long as he's sincerely trying.

The next part will go up as soon as I'm done editing it, which will hopefully be same time next week.

Thank you. I had a hard time finding Hotch's voice and I'm glad it came off as well as it did. The next part will hopefully be posted by the end of next week (and I'm a sucker for happy endings!).
