I started this journal just so I could review entries in the Supernatural meta community without having to do so anonymously, but now that I'm about to type up and post my first meta, I guess I should give my background in terms of being a fan of the show should anyone care to know the context anything I write about the show:

Hi! My LJ experience is similar to yours! I give you lots of credit for posting the meta you did! You made some excellent points regarding Sam's characterization. I can never get enough of the discussion of what makes the boys tick.

I am also a Sam girl, likely cos he is his own man, and though he supports Dean he does it on his own terms. He's also a handsome geek and I really dig hot men who are smart! Dean makes me want to just hold him and tell him it will all be allright in the end. I know that's sad and twisted, but that's my take. :)

Hi! Thanks. That's one of the great things about Supernatural - the leads have so many underlying motivations that discussions about them don't get boring.

I love Sam - I have a thing for independent men who don't let themselves be bossed around and who won't take the attempt to boss them around as an insult to their masculinity. Dean...Dean needs a good deal of nurturing and that's not really my type.

Huh. Well, shoot, that explains it, I like to nurture and my heart beats quickest for a man who needs to be loved--'cause I've got a whole lotta love to give :).

Interesting thoughts on what draws some to Sam and others to Dean. And I'm happy--no, ecstatic--to finally meet a Sam girl who sees what this show is really about and is on board with this season. Who can see that it really IS about both brothers, together and all the subtleties that this show contains.

I think I'm liking you a whole lot! Even if I am one of those crazy Dean girls, lol!!! ;)

Nothing wrong with being a Dean girl, imho :)

That's why there are two boys on the show, why the same piece of clothing is made in different colors, and why there are so many different flavors of ice cream - everyone has different tastes and that makes things more interesting.

Amen (no pun intended) to everything posted above, particularly #1 and #3. And am hoping the show creators and writers remember #2 and #4.

I really, really hate all those fanfics out there that have Sam going to Hell when he died in part one of All Hell Breaks Loose just because he has demon blood. It's like blaming someone for not being a virgin after being raped - completely disgusting and totally unfair.

It's hard sometimes, but I trust Eric Kripke and the writers to remember both boys (and their fans) deserve respect. I'd feel completely betrayed if everything got simplified to "the good one" and "the bad one".
