I find it truly lovely. It's a pity that you do not appreciate it's beauty.

The only reason it's red is because of refracted light off the Earth's surface being broken up into different wavelengths by the atmosphere. The longer wavelengths get through, which is why the moon looks red.

So it's nowhere near as poetic as you like to think :D.
