I would like to clarify a certain issue. There have been debates as to how Edward Sexby would be dealt with after he attacked me in my cabin. At the time I insisted that I would not have the Wardens vote on this for two reasons. The first, which most assume already, is that I would like to decide that myself. The second, and most important, is that ( Read more... )

the marquis is bitching you out, fuck warden solidarity

It's also not fair that he attacked you for something that happened a year ago, or that he attacked an unarmed person. Frankly, if anything he's lucky that you're the one deciding his punishment.

Now there's an ire I've never seen in you before, Monsieur Foster.

It's interesting that he seems to think a different set of standards should exist for him and nobody else.

[LOLOL Arthur has like no respect for Sexby between this and the random death threat.]

I am certain that is not his way of thinking at all. He knew he acted wrongly and expected to be punished. Similarly if I were to return in kind I would bear the same awareness. The difference is I received my punishment first.

Fair enough. I've been keeping my distance from this whole thing, personally.

[He allowed a little time to pass before he went to see the Marquis. However, he had yet to change out of his uniform from Masterworld, left over from his rejection earlier, so, as he approached quietly, he slipped the jacket back on, so that he wasn't holding it. It didn't get buttoned, though.]

Marquis. I need to speak with you.

[The Marquis is already in a mood today; Narvin's inquiry to him ate much of it for him. When Iago comes he sitting up at least, consulting a book other than his journal for once. A sidelong glance, then.]

What are you wearing?

[Iago looked down and shrugged once.] My uniform, apparently. [He lowered his voice slightly.] Not by choice.

Then by your choice take the jacket off at least. [He looked away.] I've had enough reminders of that debacle to last me a lifetime.

If I may address your rebuttal point by point:

-I don't acknowledge the Wardens' collective authority. There is therefore no justice in leaving it to them.

-So if I ask someone significantly stronger and healthier than you are to beat the piss and shit from your bones, would you consider that a fair trade? After all, you viewed your wife the victim and me the aggressor. Do I have to choose a Warden?

-I disagree. Wholeheartedly. No justice.

-Inmates are Inmates. I would confer the right to those that are assigned to look after their protection, if said Warden did not perpetrate the crime.

-You rebelled against the system you came from. You aren't entitled to a jury.

-I do not give a flying resounding and glimmering fuck what other Wardens have submitted themselves to. I have not. I will not.

You will not shame me for honesty. You have no right to discretion and you certainly are not entitled to my civility. I am inclined to take my time and consider carefully out of fairness, but not out of any respect for you. I simply ( ... )

If a woman lies with a felon after his crimes have been laid bare that is her choice.

And as before, your ailment is that you do not listen, or rather you fail to comprehend what you hear. I am not demanding retribution.

So, wait. Sexby attacked you, you refused to give him a punishment, and now you're mad because he says it's unfair that you get to decide? If you weren't going to punish him anyway, why does it matter? Either he's provoking you, which means you're just encouraging him -- and I would hope, having Iago for an inmate, that you would know better -- or he didn't send whoever it was and that person is just.. being a jerk or whatever? I don't know.

Why don't you let one of the wardens who isn't crazy emotionally involved decide what to do? If you picked someone like Bruce Wayne, then Dick and Tim would support him and then it's 3:1. Fair, but still totally ludicrous and not part of the normal system you seem to hate.

I am forgoing an answer until I can provide a fair suggestion. If it means he stews until I am able to walk again without aid, then so be it.

I will tender my suggestion to the other Wardens. Whether they see it is carried out or not remains to be seen. I would not see them act until I have considered it, however.
