If you use Firefox, you can install a plug-in called Stylish that will allow you to make changes to how 'you' see yours and other peoples Profile Pages here at LJ (and other places for that matter).

This is my first profile design - Water Paper Blue

Using Stylish: Once installed you will see a 'paper and pen' icon at the bottom of your browser. Go to your Profile page. Click the icon and select Write Style > For This URL... . Copy/Paste the above script below the existing script in the window. Give it a description, like LJ Profile, and either Preview or go straight to Save.

And your done! Now all LJ Profile pages will have the style of your choice!
