Weirdness With Books

I seem to have a talent lately for picking books to read that end up being weird experiences for me *lol* Like with the Twilight series of books I read last summer; by far the worst written books I have ever read. In fact most fan fiction is better written *lol* And OMG could Stephanie Meyer be more long winded! Yes, I got it the twentieth time, ( Read more... )

LOL I hear you on the Twilight series. It's like crack. You know it's not good but can't quit it. haha.

And The Vampire Diaries didn't rip off Twilight though it seems like it since those books were written first. I believe back in early 90s? And I think you're now further a long then me with the books. Tell me if you like book 3 when you finish so I know to continue or not lol

Just checked and your right! First TVD was published in 1991. So Stephanie Meyers ripped off Lisa Smith *lol*

I'll probably be finished with the 3rd book tonight, so will let you know. But I'm half way through right now and can say it's a million times better than the first two books, the story finally grabs you.

Read the 3rd book, it's the best of the first four (finished the 4th last night *lol*), the fouth I felt lost the plot and felt slapped together last minute, like an afterthought.

As an antidote to all bad vampire books, I highly recommend reading Robin McKinley's "Sunshine" - one of a handful of books involving vampires that I actually enjoy immensely. And keep wishing she'd get inspired to write a sequel to!

Twilight is currently haunting me. My brother & SIL cleared out a bunch of bookshelf space in their room by moving stuff onto the shelves in my room. Now my SIL's copy of Twilight is sitting just 2 feet from my bed. I feel like that apple on the spine is staring at me. I just know at some point I'm going to cave in, take it off the shelf, and attempt reading it to see if it's as bad as I've heard.

I put it on my Wish List at Amazon, thanks! I've been through two major 'Vampire Novel' phases in my life, the late 1980's and the early 2000's, but I'm pretty sure I haven't read 'Sunshine'.

Be strong, my friend T is right, "It's like crack. You know it's not good but can't quit it." *lol*
