early mountain goats (mainly protein source of the future) reminds of casiotone for the painfully alone but with an acoustic guitar instead of a cute, little synth.

lo-fi production and the way the lyrics are written. I never really heard any real structure; they just sing them - no meter or rhythm.

ive tried numerous times to "get" the mountain goats
as for casiotone, i havent heard it personally, but my friends advice is that it was just a lonely boring dude with a keyboard... maybe i should check it out

I never took the Mountain Goats seriously before this new album. It's darker than the previous stuff.

Casiotone is basically sad Owen Ashworth drolling over a synth and beatbox. Personally, I love it.
