alam mo, pare, that's the exact same thing going through my head while watching all the events south of the border, leading to obama's inauguration. sure, there's oprah raving all about it, will.i.am proudly declaring "it's a new day!" repeatedly, the TEN inaugural balls, and even a good number of torontonians risking a 10-hour bus ride from here to DC to see history in the making...pero after all the hype, all the fanfare about this history-making presidency and the change it supposedly promises, what?

this administration--or any administration, in ANY country (especially in our motherland millions of miles away) will NEVER, EVER work successfully kung hindi magko-contribute ang taong bayan. like any ideal human relationship, the relationship between the government and the people it serves should always be two-way. hindi 'yung lagi na lang tayo asa nang asa sa kung ano mang magagawa ng bawat gobyernong iniluluklok natin sa pwesto.

I don't know if was PLDT pero there was this ad campaign sa Pinas back in the late 80s and early 90s with the slogan "People make the nation work" - you just can't rely on what the government will do. If people and the government work together towards improving their society, then goals will be achieved.
