First off, MEEERRY CHRISTMAAAS!!!!

Starting from where I left off, two Fridays ago I saw "Here Is Love" with Katie, and it was an awesome production! Especially the dude who played Santa; he just blew me away. That Sunday was Tuba X-Mas, and I wrapped my tuba up in shiny wrapping paper, X-Mas lights, various stuffed animals, and tons of little bows. I then proceeded to cover myself in lights. Totally fucking rawked! I told Matt Jones the night before that we could decorate them any way we wanted to, so the next day he showed up with his covered in tinsel and lights. Liza Krauszer decked her's out so that it looked like a lampshade. And all three of us tied for "Best Decoration", although on my envelope it said (in small letters) 1st! Inside the envelope was a 10 dollar certificate to Matanuska Music! So I'm DEFINATELY doing this next year, when I get back. Thanks to everyone who went!

Somewhere along the way, Katie and I became girlfriend/boyfriend...

...and the world suddenly seems so much brighter

Thursday, went to Bri and Emmali's snow party, and had a blast! I first had to be initiated (consisting of me swinging on a swing), which wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, considering I was expecting a frat-style initiation (more on that later...). Bri gave me her presents, which was an Oscar Wilde quote book, some OW snacks, and manly unmentionables. There was a scavenger hunt, and I ended up getting more condoms (Eric had already given me condoms for Secret Santa), and edible bubbles!! Then....there was the toilet paper fashion show...*shudder*. Moving on, dinner was great, but I had to skidaddle for jazz practice. Still, good times!

Friday, I helped record a cd for Perfect Fourth, a vocal quartet consisting of Grainger Blackett, Haaken Bohman (I think?), Paul Eckman, and GimJames Vierra. Took most of the day, but hey it sounds great. Those cats are on their way to success!!

Then, Christmas! The biggest thing was that I unexpectedly got a cell phone...THAT FOLDS!!! So long to the dinosaur that my parents used! I also got that new Thelonious Monk/John Coltrane cd that was recently "discovered" by the Library of Congress, and that shit's tight. 'Trane and Monk sync up so perfectly, its kinda frightening. And my aunt Mary Carol (she's named that because she was born on X-Mas day) sent me this sweet world music album made by this blind couple from Mali, and its all sung in French. Its rather beautiful. I finally opened Rae's present, and it was...PLAY DOUGH!! T'was the dinosaur set, where the dinosaur oozes out play dough tongues and stuff. I also got some swankin' threads to boot. 'Twas a good Christmas this year!

Anywho, for anyone who's interested, this Tuesday is the Just Playin' Jazz band's party night at the train depot from 6 until 11. We're probably going to use that time to rehearse a bit, then just play for the hell of it, jam around, talk, eat, etc. Should be interesting. 'Till then, ladies and gents!
