Café de charmes

Something to do

"Yes, sir - with cream, yes."

"Jae! A tall americano with cream!" Junsu yelled above the noise pollution coming from the morning crowd of business men and women alike.

Morning shift is more like an expressway to hell as Junsu puts it, groggy business men or women would rush you for their daily dose of caffeine just before whatever shit they have to put up with like meetings or incompetent subordinates. If you don't get their orders fast enough and get'em going, it's hell.

Another case is where the customer is always right policy is a pain in the ass. Some stuck up businessman would complain about how their mocha frappuccino doesn't taste like a mocha frappuccino, in the end Junsu just puts on his best smile and get a replacement for it while letting out a string of profanities in his head.

"Here you are sir, tall americano with cream," JaeJoong hands the man his beverage, nodding his head without so much as a thank you.

None of them noticed anyway, Junsu was too busy jotting down the flow of orders and pasting them up in line for Jae to get a start on. Sometimes, it's no use shouting at the top of his lungs, the noise is just too much.

But this job is kinda fun - Junsu once admits, before he got to know the hellish part of the morning shift that is.

Something to Love

A well deserved break. Their, favorite time of the day is during brunch hour. In Junsu's case there are fewer people coming in and when there is, the customers are usually more relaxed anyway.

"A flat white and a blueberry muffin, coming right up." Junsu's mood brighter, "flat white," He nudged the barista, pinching the blueberry muffin onto its plate.

The clock hits eleven thirty and as usual, one of their daily patrons just entered through the doors.

And usually, at this time of the day JaeJoong is unavailable. Mentally unavailable anyway.

"Su, take over me," JaeJoong nudged him to the side, eyes fixated on the tall guy.

Gorgeously tall, sharp features that had a hint of softness, his sexy hair a dark brown and long enough to frame the slope where his neck meets his collarbone and apparently today he's donning a beige woolen sweater with a pair of dark trousers that accentuates his long legs, casually captivating - or as JaeJoong puts it 'my eye candy'.

You'd think JaeJoong would have gotten used to this whole ogling thing, after all he is one of their usual, but alas no. He's still as charming as ever, JaeJoong's inner fanboy talking.

"Vanilla latte macchiato with a dash of cream?" The blonde loverboy queried with a smile, surprising his crush - who by now is looking at him with eyes a little wider than usual and a wide smile gracing his lips, charming.

"Yeah. That," Mr.Charming nods his head a little, raising his eyes to meet JaeJoong's.

Mocha brown, JaeJoong made a mental note as he ducked his head, busying himself with the register. Mr.Charming's eyes were really captivating, enough to absorb JaeJoong into a whole `nother world where it's just him and the blonde barista.

"Oh, a chocolate bagel and an apple fritter at that please," someone's appetite sure is big. JaeJoong's smile never faltered one bit, though it is turning into a goofy lopsided grin now.

"Sure thing. I'll uh - go and make that, the macchiato I mean, now. Yeah," the blonde pointed to his 'working area' eyes darting to watch his step and to Mr.Charming's pair of captivating ones, yeah he's making a fool of himself.

Mr.Charming seemed amused though, nodding his head and pursing his lips as though trying to contain his laughter. JaeJoong sure is pink with embarrassment now.

"Here you go um," Somehow JaeJoong couldn't find any word but Mr.Charming was kind enough to finish it for him "ChangMin."

"...sir. W-What?" the barista looked up, eyes meeting his favorite customer's.

Mr.Charming didn't say anything else, instead he just smiled and took his tray to an empty table, settling for a spot in direct view of the cashier.

JaeJoong observes him as he took out a thick notebook and a couple of papers, jotting down stuff, how every time he looks down, strands of his hair would obstruct his view, he would then tuck them behind his ear. A college student? JaeJoong settles for that ought to be the case. A gorgeous one.

Every time Mr.Charming glances his way, the blonde would give him a small smile and busy himself with whatever thing he has near him.

ChangMin. The name sounded nice the first time JaeJoong heard it.
ChangMin. The name felt good the first time JaeJoong mutters it to himself, and for the next thousand times until Junsu tells him to shut the hell up.
ChangMin. The name is all sorts of perfection the first time JaeJoong says it to him face to face a few days later, when JaeJoong agreed to 'hang out' on Friday night, earning himself Mr.Charming's number.

Something to Hope for

On Friday evening, Junsu was all ready to throw a party to celebrate his freedom for the entire weekend while JaeJoong was cheering inwardly when his shift ended, but it stopped short when ChangMin entered the shop and the first pair of eyes he landed on was JaeJoong's.

Junsu was quick to catch on this time, he chased JaeJoong out of the shop faster than you can say 'lovestruck fools' and the blonde had no qualms that Junsu is indeed his best friend adding on to the fact that nothing mattered anymore since Mr.Charming's fingers slipped in between his.

On Monday morning Mr.Charming came by the shop at his usual timing, this time with a bag of nuts that is JaeJoong's favorites. He doesn't tell the barista how he knew those were his favorites, instead he opted for saying something along the lines of 'Well...they're kinda like you. Nuts.' but his stuttering sort of ruined it and JaeJoong just rolls his eyes and thank him with a goofy smile.

Mr.Charming ordered his usual but he also ordered an extra;

"Can I order for you to sit with me too?" Mr.Charming queried with a straight face, the corners of his lips twitching ever so slightly and JaeJoong just couldn't say no with one glance at those eyes.

JaeJoong was taken aback though, when Mr.Charming pecked his cheek. "As a thank you for last Friday," he says but JaeJoong knew it had something to do with the heart shape he had donned the macchiato with and the heart shaped apple fritter that he had made specially for his favorite customer, Mr.Charming ChangMin.

....Now that he thinks about it, the guy's not that charming after all. It's just ChangMin now.

But that's the way JaeJoong likes him.
