Of Losing Minds, Finding Suits and Fireworks
"Su!" Yunho's voice bounced from wall to wall, the said man stopped walking and turned to see the elder running down the hallways with an envelope in hand.
"Here, for you. I gave one to Min already." Yunho handed him the letter and Junsu took it with a 'thanks.'
"Oh!" Yunho turns, raising a finger as though he remembered something important with a devious smile etched on his face.
"I invited YooChun as well" Yunho leers and Junsu's cheeks were furiously tainted with pink. Of course, everybody in their department knows that the Kim Junsu had a massive crush on that newcomer.
"S-So what? A-As if I give a damn about that g-guy." Junsu stomps.
"Sure you do kitten" Yunho stuck his tongue out and ran away when Junsu raised a fist. Call it a love-hate relationship, but they've been this way for as long as they could remember. Even way back in high school it's still the same way, Yunho (aside from ChangMin) has been Junsu's bestest friend ever since middle school, or was it preschool?
And no. Junsu will never ever fall for Jung Yunho. Not even if he's the last guy on earth, heck if he were the last guy on earth what does that make Junsu?
"Junsu-yah!" an all-too-familiar voice calls him, turning around with a smile reserved for the one and only -
"YooChun? H-Hey. What's up?" Su did a small wave, trying his best not to look un-cool. YooChun just smiles though.
"Nothing, Just wondering.." the other halts and continues with a smile "Are you going to the party tonight?"
"Yeah I am. How 'bout you?" Junsu tried to suppress the hopefulness in his voice, I think it worked.
In response to that, YooChun simply smiles and Junsu could see himself falling for that smile every single time - oh wait, he already has.
"Good. Well then, see you tonight Su." YooChun disregarded his question, turning away with a - a wink?! Leaving a dazed Junsu who by the way is stuck in his whole delusional state where he noted a hint of anticipation in YooChun's tone.
...And did YooChun-Park YooChun just winked at him?!?!
Junsu needs to stop hyperventilating.
Now.
"Going to Yunho's tonight?" ChangMin appears behind the couch, plopping himself down next to Junsu.
"Uh-huh" the elder mumbles, still not looking up with eyes trained down on the magazine sitting on his lap.
"All ready?" and ChangMin could see the roll in his eyes.
"Yeah I'm totally all geared up. That's kinda why I'm looking through a fashion magazine." Junsu emphasized with a small smile and ChangMin just sniggered, shaking his head.
"Well, the party's not for another-" he checks his watch "five hours, whaddya say we head to town and look at where we can actually buy something hyung?"
"Okay fine... omo! This looks so good!" Junsu points to a picture of a man reclining on a leather couch, donning a black suit with a lapel that almost looks like velvet, an aura of elegance, poise and splendor surrounding it.
ChangMin whistled as he glanced over Su's shoulders to see the picture, "Armani" and ChangMin can't help but snigger once again when the elder made a pout of disappointment with a sweeping glance at the price.
It costs more than his monthly pay.
....and he's a model.
"This is nice too" Su remarks, pulling out yet another scruffy dark blue suit and ChangMin scans it with a disapproving glance.
"Come on Su" ChangMin starts to whine and Junsu just pouts "don't you wanna get a certain someone's attention? There's no way this...thing, will do." ChangMin added emphasis on 'thing'. He was talking about their new photographer who's been assigned in their department - one Park YooChun.
It seems as though Su's been out of his mind lately ever since the other guy came in a month ago and started talking to Su a week after.
His fashion sense had gone haywire and whenever he wants to pick out clothes, YooChun invades his mind and he'd end up overthinking and making a disaster of himself - come on, he's a model for goodness sake!
A top notch one at that.
...Maybe not right now.
There's no way Junsu would've lasted in society this long had it not been for ChangMin helping him pick out his daily clothes just to 'dress to impress' a certain photographer. You gotta admit though, the guy's fashion sense for a professional photographer slash composer slash editor, is superb.
If only he can say the same thing about his personality.
"Su, baby, hyung." ChangMin held his shoulders, looking him in the eye. "You are gorgeous, you ooze confidence , you're the guy every magazine wants on their cover page, one glance at your bedroom eyes" he halts, looks over Junsu's rear "or your asset, and you sell." Min pauses "Stay confident. Just the way you are."
Junsu seemed frozen though. His eyes blinked a couple of times but his expression was still as though he was in another dimension "You're.." he hesitates, finally moving a muscle, chewing his bottom lip "You're right Minnie"
"God" Junsu starts "What have I been thinking?" he looks at what he's holding, a disgusted pull of his expression "No way" he shakes his head, chucking the suit off at some corner and pulling at ChangMin's hand out the door.
"Now we're talking" ChangMin remarks, watching Junsu scurrying from rack to rack digging for the perfect suit in a place that's worthy to be called a boutique.
"That one's nice" He points to one of the suit the elder's holding among all others.
"How bout this/But this is cool too/Nah, this looks more me/But so does this" Junsu repeats the same thing over and over, trying on five different suits every couple of minutes. This is getting tiring for ChangMin, they've spent nearly two and a half hours trying on what probably must have been Su's thousandth set.
"Y'know hyung, there's another boutique just a block away and I've had my eye on a particular set there, can we go there and check it out?" ChangMin requests of Su, tugging at the others' hand out the shop not really giving him a chance to say anything. That was the whole point.
Now that he recalls Junsu's fascination on a suit he saw earlier this morning in a magazine, ChangMin remembers a shop that Su just might adore.
He made a phone call before dragging Junsu out, it sure is gonna be a surprise for him - and a relief for ChangMin.
"Is it really that good?" Junsu's eyes glimmered with hope, tone incredulous and ChangMin just nods with an amused smile.
"But Minnie no offense or anything but how good is your good? I mean I know you've been picking out my clothes for me ever since I lost my mind....and maybe when we were kids as well, and I'm totally thankful for that but really how good is your good anyway? For all I know your good c-" Junsu shuts up as soon as ChangMin turned him over to see a suit on a window front that totally took his breath away.
"M-Minnie.." Junsu turns his head to the said man "That's.." ChangMin nods "The armani suit you ogled, it's not really an imitation, more like....they modified it." he shrugs, pulling the still gawking man into the shop.
"Oh my God." Junsu stares at his reflection in the full-length mirror "This is perfect" he turns, bright eyes and a gleaming smile "Thank you sooooo much Min! I really owe you one."
"You bet you do" ChangMin grins, finally they can do some shopping for something else. Frankly he's had enough of seeing those...those.... things for the year.
Hopping out of the car, ChangMin passed his keys to the valet, nodding for Junsu to come along.
Walking past the gates and the front door-the party was already up and going, the ballroom decorated flourishly and the guests certainly dressed for the occasion.
They couldn't recognize anyone though-which is the whole point of a masquerade isn't it?
However Junsu could recognize Yunho's broad back within a fraction of a second, yanking at ChangMin's arms, dragging him to where the elder was. And with JaeJoong too, not that he saw the face behind the mask but JaeJong's hair really is distinctive, plus that signature move he does when he laughs, covering his mouth with the back of his hand.
"Hey Su." JaeJoong saw them first and only then did Yunho turn around.
"Glad you finally make it here." Yunho smirked, nodding his head towards the bar.
Junsu didn't get the hint and looked cluelessly at JaeJoong who just giggled a little and mouthed 'YooChun's waiting for you' and Junsu froze, ChangMin just shoved him and it worked.
"Hyung, get me a drink." it was an order and Junsu left the trio to themselves, muttering something along the lines of 'insolent dongsaeng'.
When Junsu stood by the bar, YooChun was nowhere in sight and the man just sighs, looking down at his half empty glass.
"Why the long face cutie?" A voice all too familiar to Junsu spoke beside him.
Snapping his head in one swift motion to his left? right? Whichever, he forgot the moment his eyes landed on YooChun's dark brown ones, a little obstructed by the mask, but still...those eyes are just...captivating and purely YooChun's.
"I-uh.." Junsu's lips suddenly dry and throat constricted.
"Just arrived?" YooChun held his gaze, downing that drink he got from out of the blue.
"Um, yeah." That came out more like a question.
"For a moment I thought you weren't coming." YooChun's tone chiding and Junsu thinks it's just his mind playing tricks but he sounded a little...oh I don't know...disappointed?
"Well, I'm here." Junsu bit his lip.
"And boy am I glad." and before Junsu could ask or even wonder why, his hand was already in YooChun's, who was leading his way amongst the crowd.
Junsu woke up the next morning with a vague (okay not so vague) memory of what happened last night-there was the bar, YooChun, dance floor.....
....dancing a little too closely, YooChun whispering some lame stuff in his ears, giggles, and somehow his arms around YooChun's neck, hugging him and.... and midnight.
At midnight Yunho's voice had reverberated through the room, talking through the mic saying it was the highlight of the night where everyone had to take off their masks.
There was nothing to expect for Junsu knows it's YooChun behind that mask and the other already knows its him. Boring isn't it? And that's exactly what YooChun's there for, to make his life a little less-boring.
YooChun had pulled him away from the mansion and up a hill.
Junsu was still panting by the time they reached the top but YooChun on the other hand, just cast aside his mask and took a camera that was sitting on a bench nearby. Junsu still wonders why it was there.
Unexpectedly, the elder was kneeling down with his camera and angling it Junsu's way.
"Junsu-yah, at the count of three, strike a pose." Junsu was puzzled but before he could say anything the other was already counting.
"Two...Three." Junsu forced a smile and a (what he thinks) weird pose, jumping slightly, but lucky for him YooChun had already snapped the shot, at a loud booming sound from somewhere behind.
"Woah.." The younger continued staring at the aftermath of a firework, he pouted when realizing he had missed the spectacular show all because of YooChun. Oh and he wants answers and explanations too!
"YooChun-ah." Junsu turned only to be met with a polaroid.
The younger of the two wordlessly took the picture in his hands and tried to calm his now-ragged breathing.
"So?" YooChun's hands in his pockets, shoulders hunched in anticipation as he scrutinized Junsu's reaction and awaiting his answer.
"Corny." Junsu's voice hitched, but a wide grin was in place and that's all YooChun needed really.
Junsu peered over to his side, gazing at YooChun's relaxed features while he's deep in slumber. Then he reached for the bedside table, holding the polaroid from last night.
Wonder what it is? YooChun's favorite way of expressing his emotions and unsaid words. Why would YooChun take a shot of Junsu? He's done that enough at work thank you.
The firework that erupted from the mansion at Yunho's downhill was from YooChun.
Apparently the man can do all sorts of magic with a camera. The polaroid showed the words "Baby you're like a Firework. I Love You, go out with me?" and Junsu couldn't find any better courtship.
The beeping of his phone brought his mind back to reality though-and ChangMin.
"What?" He whispered as softly as he could yet maintaining that menace, after all it is only eight in the morning.
"Good morning to you too hyung, didn't see you last night." and Junsu rolls his eyes, "get to the point ChangMin."
"Okay okay, just wondering...how did YooChun hyung like the suit?" biting his lip, Junsu just glanced at the pile of clothes strewn on the floor last night, including the suit.
Hey, they were in a hurry! Impatience brings out the worst in people.
"He loved it?" off of me that is, he thought inwardly and ChangMin just snorted.
"Right. Anyways, lunch. Five of us. Later." and the phone disconnects.
