Kryptonite

Love.

Does anyone ever know the true meaning of it? What does it actually mean? Is it feelings of affection? The desire to give your all in hopes of the same in return? Mistakes that makes you a stronger person? The bliss that is draped in pink? Happiness and laughter? Well, for Yunho there is no real definition of Love.

Distress.

That, he knows. The feeling of being all alone, a damsel in distress, with all hopes lost as you long for Superman whom you know will never come and sweep you off your feet into safety.

Yunho figures that would never be the case for him. There would be no man draped in a red cloth, wearing his underwear on the outside, barging into his life and saving him of this misery that is his aching heart.

But it's nice to believe in him right? Superman. That faceless entity that is portrayed as one dashing Clark Kent.

Heaving a sigh, Yunho turned off the movie just as it shows the unveiling of Kryptonite, head leaning back unto the couch as his eyes shuts. The apartment was dark, lonely and ChangMin is over at his parents' for the weekend. It's only Friday afternoon, Yunho had deadpanned. ChangMin had simply shrugged; They missed their baby boy.

Feeling he was this close to musing in self-pity, Yunho palmed his face and sprang to his feet.

Yunho shuffles his way to the bedroom, containing the melancholic vibe he sports. Crawling under the blankets, Yunho took one last glance at his phone. A quarter past seven. No messages, no calls.

Gnawing on his lower lip, Yunho placed the phone back on the bedside table, bringing the covers above him as he huddled in seek of warmth. It's cold no matter how much he curled into a tiny ball.

His heart feels cold.

-

An incessant ringing, that Yunho guessed ought to be his phone, adding on to the banging of the front door rid Yunho of his fatigue as he took the phone in hand whilst making way for the door.

Hollering a Be right there! And picking up the call with a gruff, “Yoboseyo?” Yunho unlatched the locks and flung the door open only to end up staring, slack jawed.

Yunho continues gawking as the man before him shifts from toof to foot, a nervous smile in place. “Hey,” that lilting voice echoed in the silence, phone forgotten.

Back to his senses, or close to, Yunho invites JaeJoong in with a stutter and a trip in every other word. JaeJoong smiles.

JaeJoong easily makes himself at home, plopping down on the couch as he refamiliarizes himself in a place he'd never thought would live outside of. Yunho took that chance to trip his way into the kitchen, seemingly inaudibly asking JaeJoong what he would like to drink in which his response was an unexpected one.

“I've lived here for half of my life Yunho-yah, it feels weird to have you asking me that. It's like,” JaeJoong pauses, “I'm a stranger, a guest.”

Yunho simply stares from the kitchen.

He continues staring even when JaeJoong had came up to him, stopping short at the opposite side of the counter. Giving Yunho a smile laced with agony despite the fact that Yunho could see him trying to cover it up.

“I,” Yunho stars “I'm sorry JaeJoong-ah,” hand instinctively coming to rub at his nape, eyes darting in an awkward silent apology.

JaeJoong smiles, chuckles and he walks around the counter, coming to Yunho's side with an arm still on the countertop. His smile morphed into one that Yunho recognizes, an affectionately doting one.

“It's fine Yunho-yah,” JaeJoong gathered Yunho in his arms “It's my fault, I'm sorry,” Yunho's arms had fit perfectly around JaeJoong's waist, thumb rubbing small circles at the small of his back as his chin rests on JaeJoong's shoulder.

“It's not your fault,” Yunho mutters into the fabric, JaeJoong understood him.

“It is,” JaeJoong kisses the blade of Yunho's shoulder, “I'm sorry,” Yunho could sense there's more to come, so he waits.

“Making you wait, leaving you all alone,” JaeJoong took a sharp intake of breath ”Hurting you. I didn't think through it and I'm sorry,” JaeJoong buries his face at the crook of Yunho's neck.

Yunho smiles forlornly into JaeJoong's hair, getting himself lost in the scent that is JaeJoong. “It's okay. I understood why you did it,” fingers running through JaeJoong's hair, Yunho's other hand remained at the small of JaeJoong's back, still rubbing soothing circles.

The silence droned on longer than expected and Yunho was starting to worry.

“I missed you,” JaeJoong whispers, placing a soft kiss at the spot right below Yunho's ear. The latter keeps silent, humming in approval as he began swaying them side to side in a slowmotion.

JaeJoong disliked the silence and Yunho knows that, effectively cutting him off at the expected timing “D-“ with a soft, chaste kiss.

“I missed you too,” Yunho mouths against JaeJoong's lips, kissing the corner of it. He could feel the smile tugging at JaeJoong's lips.

Albeit unwilling, Yunho unwinds his arm from JaeJoong's midriff, lacing a hand in JaeJoong's own as he tugged the elder for the bedroom.

-

It wasn't so cold anymore.

It felt as though the heater had been turned on full blast. No it wasn't hot, it's toasty warm just the way Yunho likes it as he took a smiling glance at the black locks, which his other hand was running through, pillowed on his chest.

A hand, that came to rest on that same spot at the small of JaeJoong's back, continued rubbing soothing irregular patterns, lulling the elder to sleep.

“JaeJoong-ah,” Yunho whispers hushedly, he got a hum of acknowledgement in response. The elder shifted in his embrace, those doe eyes looking up at him.

I love you. You make my defense crumble. I'm not crazy when I say you're the reason I live. You made me found myself without looking too deep in. Why did you leave me first. It's okay, I may be disturbed. But won't you concede. You don't have to. I love you enough to understand.

Countless things running through his mind as JaeJoong's gaze bore through his.

“Go to sleep, love.” Yunho settles for those words, JaeJoong scrutinizes him for a second or two before he nestles back in his embrace, a content smile in place that almost seems too knowing.

It’s all right...you can all sleep sound tonight.

“We'll make it through,” JaeJoong whispers, “I promise.”

Its not easy to be me. But it's alright when there is you.

Yunho nods his head, a satisfied smile in place as he held JaeJoong close.

This.

This feels a lot like love.
