I wish the US was more into soccer aka football. Its hard to get used to calling it that. In America we're obsessed with American football and baseball. When it comes to football, its barely a blip on our radar. Although I have to say this year the World Cup generated a lot more attention than it ever has before. Its been on in every bar I've been in, and a lot of people have been watching it (though I doubt its as many as it is everywhere else in the world). So who knows? Maybe soon the US will be more active in the world of football.
Its so weird how we're divided by taste in sports. Like, why is that? Maybe its because we call it soccer and everyone else calls it football. :)
you know it's funny... here in Australia we call it soccer too (except we've sort of started realising that we and the US are the only people who DO call it soccer), but we're all relatively soccer mad. Even more so this world cup because it's the first one in like 33 years that Australia has actually qualified for.
Which is why we were all devestated when we lost to Italy. Especially because it wasn't a loss worthy of a world cup. Seriously we're all still bitter.
We also have football, but it's called Australian Football League. It's really only played in Australia though hahahahaha and it's so much fun to watch. It's sort of hard to explain... if you've ever seen gaelic (sp?) football it's similar to that, yet completely different. Confused? me too.
