Fly trap

Does anyone have a lightbox-style fly trap that I could borrow, like right this fucking minute? Seriously. When I left the house this morning, there were maybe 4 or 5 flies in the kitchen. When I got home tonight -- after a fucking 12-hour day at work, mind you -- my kitchen and dining room were full of flies. There could easily be 100 flies in ( Read more... )

ewwww!!! sorry! I've had tiny fly problems before, due to the potting soil I used in my houseplants. Never big bugs though. Yikes! Good luck finding the source and getting rid of it!

That is totally gross, I'm sorry. My only advice is to check all of your potatoes, onions, anything that is left out -- pick them up and check the undersides. I had a bunch of potatoes in the pantry that I thought were fine but the undersides were completely melted and rotting. Put anything you can that is still OK in the fridge (or eat it) until the flies die down. Anything else that's out, cover with a dishtowel (like a bowl of fruit that won't fit in the fridge).

Ethan lived with flies in Tanzania (and restaurant food on which they landed) for 3 years and didn't die...

As for kitchen use, I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier, just your FB request for stuff to do this weekend. I could be around tomorrow afternoon if you need to cook in our kitchen. That doesn't fix the dinner party tonight part, though. :p
