I don't understand how people have the audacity to flaunt their materialism anymore. The other day I overheard a woman mention how "you gotta start 'em early" in reference to her kids and designer handbags. I envy you. I really, truly do. I can give you a bit of..insight into why materials matter so much to some. I...am so materialistic. And I'm open and accepting to that. Sometimes I wonder if I take it out of my life entirely, if it'll just go away.
I grew up in a private school with kids whose families had...literally millions of dollars. And constantly being surrounded by all of that and not being able to have it, makes you want it so much more.
I think those of us that are materialistic are making up for holes elsewhere in our lives. The material goods give us a satisfaction that we don't get from somewhere else, and because we're lacking that, we just keep going after these "things" to give us that satisfaction.
Just my take on it. Because I'm sure, as you can tell by my posts, how I am. And some days, when I really think about it, I wish I could be a lot more like you.
