[Iris sighs.] Yes, it is possible. It's happened to several people I knew.

We cannot return home of our own free will but...there have been times when people have been taken home with no warning. They usually leave their Pokemon behind.

I don't think they go willingly though. I think the world just kinda... picks random people to leave whenever it feels like it.
