OOC- babblings

Ahahaha. So, I decided to go back and read the thread where Leoben and Verbal first meet (way back in March!), and it's pretty crazy. I'd say that it's full of foreshadowing, but it's really just Leoben pointing out the obvious. Oh, Verbal. Way to shoot yourself in the foot.

In the beginning, there's the usual polite Nexus conversation, but thenRead more... )

Well, considering the lengths canon Soze goes to protect his identity, you can certainly look at that and go "Oh that's not going to end well at all."

But that does raise a question though. How did Leoben know? o_O Though mind, I haven't seen BSG and don't know what cylons or Leoben in particular can do.

Oh! You know, CP knows this better than I do. Leoben's a prophet, which means-- while he isn't telepathic-- he can 'read' people's lives. Generally, he has a pretty good idea of people's past/present/future just by talking to them. Essentially.

And yeah, this whole thing has been brewing for ages. The reason why Soze is finally rampaging now, however, is because he became convinced that Leoben was going to reveal him-- so he decided to reveal himself first in order to gain the upper hand. (He had already tried to kill Leoben once before-- and then he came back with three clones. Yeah, that didn't work so hot.) Of course, it spiraled horribly out of control, as we can all see.

Really, really short version:

Leoben sees patterns. In his home universe, he was a prophet, because there was no free will there and the entire fate of the universe was already written and laid out for him to see and prophesy to others. In the Nexus, things are a lot more complicated, but he can still see patterns in people's lives to a certain extent, which I generally play as him knowing the major events that brought them where they are, as where as where they're headed if there's little or no avoiding it.

Does that make sense? o_o
