Noooo, James, come to Oxford :-p (and if you could condescend to drop into the Harvester at Wheatley, I'll be yours forever ;-)
Ok, sorry. Fangirling again, aren't I? I guess because I'm falling more & more under the spell of this tale... I love the picture: the prevalence of black and dark hues not only gives it the necessary sheen of masculinity, but also harks back to Will's description of him in the "A Level English Lit homework"...
What else to say? Except that I love it? That's it's a wonderful glimpse into another's confusion - a reassuring reminder that even a character as sussed as James feels unsure & bewildered at times...
Please, more :-)
On a different note... her brown creases?, we both decided long ago that come upper sixth, our final year of upper school drama glory that we’d star in, our at least carry our own play?, and you appear to have a suplus end-italic tag at the end... Apologies if I'm overstepping the mark here...
thanks for those - corrected them all now :-) you know what it's like when you could read something through for mistakes one last time or you could just hit post.....
James is totally not going to Oxford, mainly because I've never been there so I'd be screwed if I tried to write any kind of chapter around it. nope, cambridge it is - sorry sweets!
and it's been impossible to write these two back to back and try and make them different both to each other and to me. When I was making Jame's desk I had to go upstairs and swipe all the random boy-crap from Nick's desk because I was mentally running through what he might have lying around and getting stuck at "lipgloss? do boys have lipgloss? magazines...?"

I have enjoyed reading all of the stuff that you have posted on this journal. I am particularly impressed with this though: how did you manage to get into a boy's head quite so effectively? You have perfectly captured the mixture between leering and reflective romanticism that takes up the majority of the teenage boy's life. On a more mundane note: another typo: 7 lines from the bottom, a sentence reads "Do she see the difference?"
do boys ever own paper clips and rubbers? Yep. Though it is more likely for girls to have them... just depends on the lad, really. To me it looks as though James has just been collecting random stuff, then emptied his pockets onto the desk... doesn't mean he bought the paper-clips, but he has them now...
(I'm glad I'm not the only one commenting about the pic though :-p)
I have no idea - I raided Nick's desk for "stuff" and that was the result. I realised I wasn in trouble on the "boy stuff" front when I found myself looking for the "least girly" of my lip balms to use. Clearly I've lived with Barn and Nick too long as it didn't occur to me for a while that boys don't use lip balm at all
Ooooh I love. Very nicely done. I love how James is confused, and Lizi, of course, acts as self-assured as ever-though she's no more confident than he.
