I enjoyed reading that. It is interesting to read things that people you know write: some parts of what is written become flavoured with memories of things that they have said and the way in which they express themselves but for me the more interesting bits are those that don't immediately spring from the mouth of the person that wrote it. This section of text is, for me, engaging and lively, and, apart from part of the first sentence, nothing seemed to come straight from you as I know you. I am generally ignorant of modern authors (and the style is ineluctably modern) but it reminds me, as does the first of the character studies above, of Douglas Coupland. I am less able to take a stab at the second character study but there are bits that remind me of Irvine Welsh (although I doubt very much you were paying homage to him). Specifically, the use of the peremptory "Look..." and "Watch..." to start sentences. Admittedly the rest of it is fairly unlike anything of his that I have read and I must confess to preferring your writing to his

y'know I hadn't actually thought of Coupland until you pointed it out but I can see where you're coming from. I'm also curious to know which bit of the first sentence does sound like me - most of Lizi's character is pieces of me but mostly the pieces that i keep private.
