They're already watching our every move most likely. And probably this conversation.

[Sighs. Does he have to respond? He seriously doesn't want to.]

[Yes. Yes, he does. ...Well, unless she decides to carry on without him. Like now.]

--Anyway, they aren't going to care about what we're doing normally. There's got to be a couple hundred people here, all doing stupid things. But if you're talking to them or drawing attention to yourself some other way when they're looking for subjects, they're going to pick you.

Answers won't just be given to you here. They'll do all those things regardless of what you do.

If you were really concerned that they would go after you if you spoke about them, why are we still talking about this?

...Because I was trying to be nice and help you stay alive, but if you're going to be like that maybe I shouldn't have bothered!

[Pause pause pause.]

... I appreciate it. But you're worrying over nothing, I'll be fine. You should be worrying about yourself.

[She was just about to slam the journal shut--he's ignoring her again!--when he did speak up. She's appeased, but she still sounds a little grumpy.]

What kind of selfish person do you take me for, letting someone else get in trouble by being over-cautious? [Though if she really thought she was putting herself in danger, she probably would.] And if they were going to notice, they'd have noticed already.

[If selfish was code for stupid then maybe.]

Think before you speak. Taking some time to think of what to say next is better than just saying something stupid for the sake of responding quickly. You can't always take back your words. And in a case like this, you should be more careful.

[...Boy does she feel embarrassed right now. She's getting advice on how to talk by someone she had pegged as lacking any social skills, about being cautious in a situation she had been angry all week over people not taking it seriously. And it's good advice, damn it. It's a bit infuriating.]

[With great effort, she chokes back the rest of the angry response, though there may be a very brief bout of sputtering after it. There's a pause as she stews a bit, before:]
