Office hours [TR, for Juliet and Peter]

Jan 11, 2011 13:09

Will was now spending more time in the office since Dr. Devlin disappeared. Somehow his schedule had suddenly gotten a lot busier, between the classes he was teaching starting next week, the added office hours, and new patients, but that was fine with Will; he liked being busy, as long as he had time to spend with Magnus. So he had breakfast with ( Read more... )

I wasn't a fan of therapy. I did it, because I needed to, but I didn't like the idea I was so messed up I couldn't my shit alone. Still, that said, Will was a decent guy, and plopping myself in front of his desk a few times a week wasn't a hardship.

"Will? Have you ever found women to be more trouble than they're worth?"

Yeah. Shari came up sometimes. I was a man of many problems.

"Well, yeah, now and then," Will answered. "I think we all are, from time to time." He didn't find Magnus to be trouble, exactly, but she wasn't always an easy person to understand or communicate with since she kept so much to herself.

"I had an argument with one friend and another is so miserable about missing home that I don't know what to do," I admitted, then thought better of it. "Well, I sort of made up with Shari. It's complicated."

I waffled on the next part.

"If someone kisses you when they're drunk and you're not, the right thing to do is stop, right?"

"I'd say yes, the vast majority of the time," Will said. "Depending on the relationship and the circumstances, it might be different, but stopping is probably the best idea in most cases." At least that was Will's personal standard, especially in absence of a previous romantic relationship.

Juliet has avoided leaving her hut, hasn't gone to the clinic, and hasn't really thought about anything other than what happened with Sam and Jack. She realizes (self-discovery, maybe) that she's avoiding a lot by simply not leaving, so she forces herself into Will's office.

It's hot out again, and the clothing box is mad at her (again), so she's wearing a white tank top and khaki shorts, thankful for at least the shorts. She even has sneakers now. Halfway there she thinks about turning back but she doesn't. She figures if anyone can understand how she feels it's Will, though that's what he gets paid to do. Figuratively speaking.

Hair up in a messy pony tail, looking for all the world like she hasn't slept in a couple of days, she knocks on his door, swallowing whatever pride she has left.

"Hey, come on in." He was expecting her, so he didn't look up right away, but when he did he saw she looked like hell. "Juliet?" Will asked. "You okay?" Obviously not, but it was a place to start.

Juliet sits down, focusing on a random spot in the room for a few seconds, chewing on her bottom lip before looking down at her lap.

"I had my first pregnant patient here since remembering the other island." Her jaw is working as she clenches her teeth a little. "She was fine. She was healthy, Will. I'm a doctor. I know things happen. I know it," she says, looking up at him, her face full of anguish for Sam, for Jack, for all the women who died.

Will came from behind the desk and sat down in a chair near Juliet's, frowning a little in concern. "What happened?" he asked. Surely she hadn't lost a patient here? He hadn't heard of any recent deaths, but that didn't necessarily mean anything.
