BRING ON THE CHIMERIC STIMULUS

Oct 31, 2006 08:02

I SENT THE BEST TEXT MESSAGE OF MY LIFE LAST NIGHT. SO GOOD, THAT I HAVE TO POST IT HERE.

'I like you more on days ending with 'Y' (M=365, SD=0) than on those that don't (M=0, SD=0), t(4)=444.4, p=<0.001.'
Seriously, am I the best or am I the best? It was seriously so good that I got a phone call saying 'that was so good it was worth a phone call ( Read more... )

yeah i completely fixed that :| such an eye for noticing!
I would absolutely LOVE to go back and do my year 12 psych exam again. seriously, the lectures just after the stuff up there was all about memory and the different stores and the different types of memory and it's all just so repetative it's not even funny.

gooo and revise your research methods now. DOO IT. and the schedules of reinforcement cause i swear they will ask you a question about one of them.

i was just studying my schedules of reinforcement!
but i get confused by which has the fastest/strongest acquisition and which takes the longest to extinguish
what year did you do year 12 psych again? i probably did your exam for practice yesterdayyy

2003 baby!
and there are 4 different schedules you have to remember right?
what I can remember is the poker machine one was like.. the ULTIMATE one. variable ratio maybe what its called? that takes the longest to extinguish.

my guess is that at the beginning, continuous reinforcement will lead to fastest acquisition. so in terms of schedules, possibly fixed ratio, with the ratio being every single time they get a correct answer.

BUT THE BEST BET WOULD BE CHECK THE TEXT BOOK :(

ohhhh annnnnnnnd remember what negative reinforcement is. i don't know if im remembering the stupid questions they always ask, or remember what is hardest to actually remember.

Haha isn't it strange when you're so involved in things like study etc that they just completely take over you and invade your dreams and you cannot for the life of you make your mind concentrate on anything else!

I won't be able to make it to Nightcat on the 12th, cos I'm leaving at midnight that night, unless everybody wants to meet up in the daytime and make it a massive end-of-exams-or-whatever all-day party!
That would be way cool, and then everybody can stumble to the nightcat while I head off to the airport drunk. Can't say it will be a new experience! :P

What's a chimeric stimulus?

That's almost not a bad idea.. lets discuss it more closer to the date! I shouldn't get in the party mindset JUST yet i guess ahahah.

And just cause I remember things better when I talk about them, I'll tell you what a chimeric stimulus is! Some people have this thing called 'hemospheric neglect' where they completely ignore something on one side of the world. Like if they were eating something from a plate, they just wouldn't touch anything on the left side cause to them it doesn't exist. So they came up with this picture to test for neglect, where the picture is half horse, half cow; a chimeric stimulus. If they have hemispheric neglect (on the left side), then they will tell you the stimulus is a cow because that's all their brain sees; they'll simply ignore the horse part.

THE END. so longwinded :(
