The handle fell off of my nice 7" frying pan the other day, the one I use for bacon and cheese dreams. And the lid of the saucepan we use for rice parted company with its handle at the same time. If you need circular needles that long your best bet is probably a some interchangeable tips. The ones I use are knitpro.

These are needles inherited from my mother, and probably date back to the 50s before the advent of interchangeable needles! I think she used them to knit my school jumpers before she got a knitting machine. I don't anticipate ever using them myself, at least not in circular mode.

I use 100cm long needles all the time! Good for doing socks on magic-loop. 2.75mm is larger than I'd use for that, though, but would be OK for something like hats on magic-loop.

I had never heard of magic loop (apart from in the context of crochet) and have now looked it up and may have a go at it if I can figure out the instructions. Judging by the way the steel cable on this needle is permanently looped that may be the way my Mum used it.

One of the dealers at the wool show is advertising 'beginner trial circular knitting kits (at £15) including sets of metal, wood (Symphonie - I love Symphonie) and plastic tips and cables so I may pick one up.

Should have asked me while you'd got me, I could have demonstrated magic loop, as I was carrying a pair of socks on the go for train knitting!
