That Was The Year That Was

I haven't been posting much to LJ partly because I've been using Facebook for everyday stuff, partly because I've been concentrating on knitting and updating my Ina-Jean DW account so can't be arsed to switch to the Inamac one for cross posting, and partly because (I imagine because most people use i-phones to post these days) no one seems to use ( Read more... )

Oh, poor Draco in the Christmas Hat with Antlers! *g* (Although it's a lovely hat. *g*)

I've missed getting updates on the dogs and the cats, as well as you!

For shame, not using a cut! *giggles*

I love Draco's hat, even though he seems quite bedeviled by it. Ha ha! How cute!

The Christmas Hat With Antlers very nearly made me splooge wine all over my keyboard. I'd like to hear more about the pseudo-Wimsey -- worth reading, or better give it a miss?

Jill Paton Walsh writes competent modern detective stories set in Oxford with a nurse detective, Imogen Quy. On the strength of this she was asked to 'continue' the Peter Wimsey books from Sayer's notes: 'Thrones, Dominations', which is an interesting read (if only to spot the original from the pastiche). She's had three more Wimsey 'authorised fanfic' pieces published - which get progressively more irritating. Only worth reading if (like most of us poor Wimsey fans) you're desperate for a fix.

The Quy books are rather good though.

That would be me as well *sigh* I adore Lord Peter and am so sad there will be no further adventures. I've read all of them so many times I practically have them memorized -- that scene with the two of them on the riverbank in Gaudy Night still wins the prize for best UST :)

Have you read Laurie R. King's Holmes/Russell series? Lord Peter makes a cameo appearance in her A Letter of Mary :)
