I'm posting a bigger picture later. I despise how horses tug carriages along the city like that (I tried to find ONE happy-looking one but almost all had their heads lowered and appeared sad to me).
I know what you mean. There are some in Downtown Dallas that do the same. They always look so miserable. I often wonder if they even know what it feels like to roam on open land...
I believe some of them don't; that some are bred simply for entertainment and the novelty of people being able to roam around cities in a bit of an old-fashioned way. It's very sad. When the intense city heat finally settles in the horses suffer. It's so unnatural for them to be cramped in the city with so many cars and buses and smoke and noise.
It's so sad how the carriage-horses look depressed...Everytime I see one I want to yank off the reigns and let it free. The pictures - beautifully depict New York! Pam Anderson, sky-scrapers, carriage rides through town - I love it.

I do know what you mean about the addictions of pleasure and remembered passion...
Carriage horses... I find horses beautiful and most pettable, and I become angry if a carriage horse looks maltreated.
