Just one day, he was cold and withdrawn, the next, he was still withdrawn, but kind of at peace, you know?

Sounds like somebody got some news. But what was it? I want to know!

“Nothing horrible,” he said, “Just some canned meat, mayo, vinegar . . . “
“Oh, yeah, and some Alpo,” he finished.

Nice.

Edward was - envious? No. Jealous? Yes, that was it.
He looked that hurt and betrayed.

Yeah, well, you wrote the letter...

“The ambassador asked me to tell you that there will be a meeting with him, Colonel Beck and myself in his office at 0830 Monday morning and that he expects you to join us,” Clark said to Carlos.

That's going to be awkward.

Perhaps, but not in the way you may expect it. I'll be posting the story behind that soon.

Nice. I thought the Ambassador chowing down on it afterward was pretty funny too. Though I'm not quite like Maggie, I'd probably pass on the platter itself if it was offered to me.

Yeah, well, you wrote the letter... The side story that I will be putting up soon may help here. I hope.

That's going to be awkward. LOL, you know I hadn't even thought of that... I've been thinking more of a confrontation coming up between Beck and Heather instead.

No reason there can't be both :)

Well, at one point, I was thinking of a confrontation between Beck and Carlos over Heather and then alternated between one with Beck and Travis, Travis being in the 'cooler heads prevail' type mode. Hence their absence when Heather and Carlos got back to the table. Since I have not written said plot bunny/side story, it could easily be a toss up still.

(Sappy sigh).

First, yay! Another chapter! Yay, BECK!!!

Heather dressed up; dancing; being rescued. Yay, yay, and yay.

I'm starting to like Carlos more now, and I'm a bit split by that, simply because I'm so absolutely in love with Beck. However, he was being a bit of an ass - hey, buddy - you cut her loose!! Can't expect her to wait forever. (Reminds of me of my own romantic history where the timing of attraction on both parts was never quite right. ("you want me, but I don't want you" "I want you now, but you don't want me" and repeat. Ad nauseum. LOL) but I digress.)

I do have to give you huge kudos, though; the best love triangles are those where you can see why the person in the middle is torn, and you're doing that very well.

And like nativefloridian said, the meeting in the morning is going to be awkward...especially depending on what happens between Heather and Carlos between now and then...hmmmmmm....

Looking forward to the side story, and to the next chapter.

Heather dressed up I was thinking something along the lines of a Bagley Miska concoction in regards to her dress. dancing I've been a long admirer of all types of ballroom dance (ballroom, latin, cabaret). I love America's Ballroom Challenges shown on PBS. I hate Dancing with the Stars however, my big complaint being that most of the shots are done from the waist up. Hello, people, dancing is done with the legs -- lemme see the footwork already! being rescued Yep, Heather definitely has her angels in the right places (or as my Dad is apt to say, 'she's got the script writers on her side ( ... )

"I'm sorry, Heather, but this place isn't home for me. Despite the hellhole that New Bern became, it's home for me. And I'll take on the entire A.S. army to get back home if I have to."

I love how determined Lily is. She's a fantastic and strong character. I think it helps Heather to have someone reminding her of home and that she's going back, some time.

"No, he was withdrawn, cold after you left. Much colder and withdrawn than when you were with him. Then something happened -“

What happened indeed. I can't wait to read your companion story to that!! Seriously, dying with anticipation over here.

Chances are if he had the evening his way, we’d be saying to hell with the ball & not leave my room until morning.

Chance are if he'd leveled that sort of look at me, we wouldn't be going anywhere, lol.

The groups distraction was beautifully done! I loved Maggie in this chapter, even though she normally bugs me, she did a lot of clumsy things that I'm infamous for. :)

“I said why don’t we leave this hole and go some place where ( ... )

Priceless. Absolutly fantastically priceless. Part of this comes from a joke between myself, my college roommate and my boyfriend when we went shopping once and came across "potted meat product" in the canned meats section. Have to admit it was one of the few things in my life that made me stop, scratch my head and say "What the hell?"

Ah! Scary!Beck

I love the interchange when Beck is checking her out physically. I have a soft spot for hurt!comfort, and this filled my heart with joy. Super Beck should be available for sale nationwide. I think if the show had continued and Beck and Heather continued that chemistry they had, I could see Beck being very protective of her, I think he's just that type of guy. And he's cared for her early on -- whether he wants to admit that to himself is something else entirely however. I also have to say I was somewhat influenced by the beginning of V for Vendetta as far as Stanton's character was concerned. I definitely like the idea of Super Beck...

Chance are if he'd leveled that sort of look at ( ... )
