Apple Tarts

Oct 08, 2007 09:27

You need one can of Pilsbury's Grands Reduced Fat biscuits (8 per can), three medium sized apples (slightly larger than a tennis ball, if you use large apples, you'll only need two), a little bit of butter and a little bit of cinnamon sugar.

Peel and core the apples and slice them wafer thin. On a large cookie sheet (you might need to do this in two batches) press the biscuits into large flat circles. Pile equal amounts of apple onto each one and top with a half teaspoon of butter and sprinkle with cinammon sugar. Bake about 20 minutes at 350F

4 points per tart.

Mike wants me to try making them into turnovers next time. What I'll do is put the thinly sliced apples into a sturdy pan with a Tablespoon of butter, two teaspoons of sugar and a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. I'll cook them down to a sort of fruit filling (medium heat, stirring constantly, until soft and thickened) and then spread that on the flattened biscuits before folding them up and pinching the edges. I'm guessing about 15 minutes on 350F will do the trick. Same point value - 4 per turnover.

ETA: Forget the Grands Biscuits. poultrygeist99 has the right idea. Reduced Fat Crescent rolls. Butter (lightly) one side of the triangle of dough, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and roll it around some thinly sliced apples. Bake according to the directions on the package adding a minute or three to accomodate the apples. HOLY YUMMINESS!!! 3 points each.
