as my first post, i would like to share a trick my mother has called "something a woman would do" that i have been doing for years.
i find this most helpful when i am at a resale shop or shopping on ebay and see something that might look cool underneath the v-neck if i already know it won't fit button up completely.
i've got a few short-sleeve v-necks from old navy that are nicely ribbed and surprisingly lightweight. i wear them over collared button up shirts as you can see here:
but check out what is really going on...
mens shirts are weird. i'm a big guy and neck sizes aren't always matching the body. just like old navy thinks all fat guys are tall. the shirt in the photos fit perfect around the neck and chest but wouldn't button up around my belly. so i cut it so that i wouldn't have to and just hide it under the v-neck.
i could have probably done a better job of cutting the shirt in the photos above but i was wearing the shirt when i did it. i have cut one too short and it ended up riding up in the back so it does matter some of the time how much you cut. the more fitted it is toward the bottom the better.
i also cut the sleeves too so they don't stick out.
