I find that Faith 21 stuff runs smallish but it's also super random sizing.
I tend to wear an XL or XXL (straight) and usually a 1 or 2 new juniors plus sizing at Target. At Faith 21, the busts of the 2X stuff are too tight on me. But I have successfully purchased and worn a 1X top there. It's really just a bit hit or miss.
I am around 230lbs, 5'9"
I know though for my bust size, I avoid anything empire-waisted there, because it's not cut for anyone with over a C cup.
Also their dresses/skirts tend to run SUPER short.
And I want to totally recommend the sweater leggings at Faith 21. I am about to own them in every color, I love them SO much. I got the 2X in those, I probably could have gotten away with the 1X.
Oh I think I might have to invest in those as well! I have a whole list made out and some boys clothes for my partner from the heritage 1981 line. Everything is so cheap.
I wish we had a target here I am so envious of you americans and the europeans who also dont ship to us poor canadians.
I've lived in both countries and I tend to disagree:S Our sizes are pretty much identical, most of our stock is shipped from the same distributors (Forever 21, Gap, Old Navy etc).
Canada's plus size clothing sucks really bad, the selection. Forever 21, we're almost about the same size and it DEPENDS on the cut and fabric of the garment, I can fit almost always size Large on F21, occasionally when it has buttons or it's silk or a non-stretchy fabric I may need an XL or a XXL. I fit F21's leggings size large comfortably. If it's an empire waist and stretchy, it's almost guaranteed you might fit in their garments.
Old Navy is kind of vanity sizing, you could fit their large or XL with ease, imho. Gap is the same. I could fit my arms comfortably in their jackets.
If you've been to Ailes de la Mode / Fairweather they have garments that may fit you at the top. I've had luck fitting shorts at a size XL there, so...
All in all... the above don't really have true to size. There's some stretch and give.
Thanks so much for the help. That happens to be one sucky thing of living in our country. There are so many european places I want to buy from but no they dont ship to canada
Yeah. Actually, a lot of stores you could probably squeeze into. I found luck at SmartSet for basics. They have good sales too!
I feel the European pain. I was crazy enough to use a shipping service in the USA. I had to send it to be shipped there, and I had to drive an hour and a half to drive down there and pay crazy customs fees. ($60 in fees alone, holy crap.) It was worth it but my wallet screams, "NO!" Haha.
I'm in Canada as well- Faith 21 I've found does run small in my experience at 5'3, 200lbs a 2X fits me as a size 16. Their jeans in a solid 16 fit me, the same with the cords. they ship pretty fast too.
Ricki's, Reitmans, I've also found to be good clothing choices- it just kinda sucks having the same dress as every single person. I've also found express size 14 and 16 are cut generous and fit nicely- though I've only purchased it at the bay.

I suppose, if Faith 21 runs small, then they might be *more* true to the sizes you're used to seeing in Canadian chains.
