Happy birthday trip to you and happy birthday to your mum! I hope you're followup check shows you healthy. The flimsy loops on jackets were, I was once told, there to keep the belt attached at the store, and not supposed to be used when worn. I'm a bit torn about that, because I use the flimsy loops, too.

That makes sense, about the belt loops. But these days when you're constantly having to leave your coat hung up on a coatstand somewhere (at work, for instance), you really need some way to make sure you don't lose the belt.

I suppose that if repairs need doing, they need doing . . . I just wish they hadn't needed to be done on the day I needed to travel.
