Ok, so this new manager is making me feel rather uncomfortable at times.  He acts all buddy buddy with me, play punches me, pokes me, etc.  He talks to me a hell of a lot, more than he talks to the others it seems, and very often, while I'd be working with customers, he'd be watching me with a huge grin on his face, and when I'd ask why he is ( Read more... )

Have a talk with him. Once. After that definately file a complaint. Talk to the regional supervisor if you need too, but that needs to stop.

when sexual harassment happens, usually it's a higher-up harassing their employees. sounds creeptastic to me.

just to clarify because I'm not sure I understand what you meant here... I think sexual harassment laws work in this way: if someone - regardless of level - were making me uncomfortable (through sexual advances or lewd stories/jokes, whatever), it would be sexual harassment. I don't believe that the person's job title has anything to do with it.

i'm saying usually when it happens, it seems like it's a manager or someone harassing someone in a lower position.... i wasn't saying anything about legality of it.

it just seems to "make sense" because what's someone going to do when his/her manager is making advances towards them? Not everyone is going to think of going to the next step of the hierarchy and say, "hey, i'm getting sexually harassed." A lot of people end up feeling trapped and not saying anything at all.

It's definitely harassment. That sort of conversation should never happen in a work environment, especially when it's followed with "this conversation never happened". I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. I've been there and it's not fun and makes everything very awkward and icky.
