A Report From One Of The One-Way Tickets Out Of Michigan

Jan 15, 2008 21:02

I heard an interesting fact on Fox News. Michigan leads the nation in one-way bus tickets.

I came to Illinois in a car eight years ago to find work (though not in the sectors that Michigan is bleeding) but I still want to talk about my old home state.

Of all the stupid statements made by all of the candidates on both sides is that of Mitt Romney ( Read more... )

It would have been interesting to see where the Democratic candidates campaigned.

Despite my anger at our government, my almost total lack of faith in anyone that looks like they could win this election has lead to me not paying much attention to the primaries. As a result, I was amazed to hear that Hillary Clinton would be the only name on the Dem primary ticket. If that's true, how the hell did it happen?

Michigan moved its primary back to before February 5 violating Democratic Party rules. The Democratic Party as a punishment stripped Michigan (and Florida's) delegates. Obama, Edwards, and Biden took their name off the ballot due to the whole mess. I'm not sure if Hillary did the right thing to stand up to the national party or if the others did the right thing in standing up to the Michigan party.

Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that now. Personally, I think the state is in the wrong. If you don't like the way the rules are set up, you work to change them. You don't just decide to do it your own way and then say "nyah nyah, what are you going to do about it" or whine when you get punished.

To me, it sounds like Michigan is going to fuck over the will of the voters because a few asshats didn't like it that our primary isn't one of the first ones.

It is my understanding that NONE of the Democtats campaigned in the state. The ones that took their names off the ballot DEFINETLY did not. I want to also say the others didn't but, I'd probably be wrong only because I'm not 100 percent positive. Mitt Romney pissed me off SOOOOO BADLY with his bullshit line, "We will bring the jobs back." Those jobs ARE NOT COMING BACK. They found machines and people in other countries to do them cheaper. The jobs ARE NOT COMING BACK. If Michigan is to get more jobs it is because their EDUCATED citizens obtained a job. There are slim to NONE jobs in Michigan that require no education. The automotive jobs ARE NOT COMING BACK. Ugh it makes me so mad especially because Granholm has tried to say this over and over again and NO ONE FUCKING LISTENS. I get so angry about it. McCain was honest when he said THE JOBS ARE NOT COMING BACK BUT he will help educate those to find new jobs. Because THAT is Michigan's truth. Hell, I am an educated citizen of Michigan who is underemployed who could be ( ... )
