Unfortunately, they're both comically indoorsy. She loves things like tea, books, and scarves, and he mostly gets high and plays video games during his free time. They've kept in touch after Inception, but only through something totally inane like texts or sending each other pokes on facebook. They're in no way cut out for this kind of thing.
They are both resourceful, though. They depend on each other to get out of this and she starts to fall for him because of his quiet thoughtfulness, goofy humor, and low-key confidence. He sees that she is bright, wise beyond her years, and pushy but caring and falls for her, too. By the end of their adventures, they've become badasses.
Bonus if their skills come in handy in unexpected ways, like Yusuf builds a bomb on the fly or Ariadne knows the floorplan of a building because she's studied it, and finds them an escape route. I want to see lots of badass, nerdy McGyvering.
