Seeking Order of the Phoenix Members:

Jan 25, 2007 22:37

Before you consider applying for this game, please at least skim the following topics so you are familiar with game history and have a sense of whether this is a game for you.

Starting game plot and key events to the present.

Backstory plot that lays the foundation for in-game events.

Hogwarts reorganisation under Headmistress Minerva McGonagall.

Wizarding government and politics.

About the Ministry Tracking Devices and Registry.

Game calendar of upcoming events.

Fiery Inception and Deathly Hollows.

We are a large game that has been in-play for two years. This naturally means that Muns have come and gone as interest waxes and wanes. We are eager and willing to help new players get settled in, but having an understanding of the starting foundation of the game is particularly helpful for everyone.

The Order of the Phoenix, in Canon, was an almost Vigilante-group gathered and lead by Albus Dumbledore, which, in canon, clearly 'disbanded' almost the instant the first war was over, and took some effort to regather at the end of GoF.

With the death of Albus, the Order was held together - not well - by Minerva McGonagall and Alastor Moody. At the completion of the war it again disbanded, and though there have been some attempts to reorganise in protest of present Ministry Policies, the Order never was a political organisation, and such attempts have been unsuccessful.

This in no way means the Order is 'dead' - it is simply very, very dormant. Muns of Order members, though, have a ready-path to friendships and interactions with other adults/Order Members, etc.

Because of JKR's information about the Fidelius Charm, after Albus' death, no new person could be told the 'Secret' of the location of Grimmauld Place, so Hogwarts and Hogsmeade became the primary meeting places. Only canon Order Members had/have access to Grimmauld Place, which still belongs to Harry.

There are still Death Eaters 'out there' - and the Ministry is still turning a 'blind eye' to much of their activity, believing them to be "under control" due to the Registry Process. Whether they are in the Ministry, a civilian job, or even a homemaker like Molly Weasley, the Order is still a useful tool for handling information, and eventually will find enough cause and need to regather to stand against evil and injustice.
