Part Two- Character Info
Character Name: Draco Malfoy
Age: 21
Birthday: June 5, 1980
Wand: DH canon
House in School: Slytherin
Bloodline: (Pureblood,Half-blood, Muggle born) Pureblood
Political View:
Draco has not left his pureblood superiority views behind. While he is quieter about them, and is less extreme than he once was, he still thinks that there should be a system in place. The current administration's security measures are an insult and an abomination. Yet, torture and suffering can alter a man's perspective. He's no longer as brash and bold as he once was. He has learned to hide his views a bit more, and has restrained from using certain diction in front of anyone of whom he is not completely certain.
Appearance
Height: 5'10"
Weight:190 lbs.
Build: Draco is slender and lithe, taking grace and ease from both sides of his family.
Eyes: Grey
Hair: Pale white blond, hangs into his eyes somewhat as he has long fringe to his cheekbones.
Dress style: Impeccable. He prefers black edged in silver. He owns mostly robes, though he's been reluctant to get rid of the single pair of Muggle jeans and a t-shirt and jumper he had while in hiding. In public though, he's spent the last few months especially working towards the image that he wants people to see, to understand.
Discerning Marks: (include basic appearance, discerning marks, style, etc.) Pale pointed face, distinct widow's peak hairline.
PB:(Played By--this is the actor, actress or model you will be using for your character icon in the game.) Tom Felton
Sexuality: (include details about sexual orientation, history, and give valid reasons for your character being gay/bisexual/straight/transgendered) Draco is straight, and has never really considered any alternate options for himself. Rebellion aside, he views anything other than a pureblood witch as a diversion and cheap entertainment.
Draco is definitely not a virgin, though that is the one part of his life where he always knew discretion was a necessity.
Psychology
Introvert/Extrovert Draco is an introvert. While he knows how to play the game socially, having been raised by both the Malfoy and Black families, Draco has found that in the end, he can only trust himself. He does not recharge by spending time with people as he finds that it has become mostly a chore of remembering what role to play.
Boggart is? Explain. PLEASE NOTE: A Boggart assumes the shape of a *creature* or physical object. This is not the same as a Dementor Effect - it cannot be something vague like 'loneliness' or 'sadness' or 'darkness'. It must have shape and form.
Draco's boggart changed form after his torture at the hands of Voldemort. Now, it has taken the form he associates most clearly with the fear he felt. He sees a humanoid shadowy figure moving with serpentine grace through the air. He has claimed it to be a Dementor, but if one looks closely, one sees the figure wielding a whip of fire from the tip of a wand. The form continues to grow darker, as if sucking the light out of the world as it approaches, even the whip seems to be the embodiment of darkness.
Patronus--can they produce one? What is it and why does it have that form? Again, please note, as per canon - a Patronus is a *creature* of some kind. We have been very flexibe as to allow fictional creatures to be Patronuses, but it cannot be an inanimate object. A Beater's Bat cannot be a Patronus.
Draco's patronus is a panther. Though he's never understood it, most likely for lack of trying, Draco views his mother as something of a large cat. She is his comfort and his protection. That it also takes the form of an apex predator should not be overlooked, though again, he's never taken much interest in the form aside from it not being a rodent or something "fluffy." Oh, and it is nothing like Harry Potter's. Of that, Draco is incredibly proud as he thinks the stag is pompous and overdone, just like Potter. If only to himself, Draco has admitted that his patronus is a competition with Potter.
Personality
Include strengths, weaknesses, quirks, general outlook on life.
Draco has a competition complex. He must be the best, the favourite or he doesn't want to play the game. He's realized this, but has yet to be capable of controlling it. He has withdrawn from the world at large because he feels lost and lashing out is the easiest way he knows to deal with it. This competition complex is his greatest weakness currently as it is the easiest way to ensure he acts out in a predictable fashion.
He has, through necessity, proved that he is a survivor. No matter what happens, he will find a way. Though he's not mature enough to realize that he can use that strength to turn his competition complex into a neutral or even possibly positive personality trait.
He's taken to drinking regularly and brooding excessively. Believing in no one fully, but unable to completely discount his past has left him in no-man's land and Draco has been forced to rely on himself. Finally, he feels that he can't hide any longer and is determined to prove he is stronger than he feels.
He still has nightmares, though he wakes with fewer bruises when he drinks, and the nightmares seem to occasionally skip a night, or at least he doesn't manage to leave the bed occasionally.
Draco does have a shrewd head for strategy, however, especially where money and land are involved.
Family
Parents? Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Malfoy (nee Black)
Siblings? None
Family dynamics--do they get along? Opposite sides of the war? Accept their child's magical talent? Pressure for 'pure blood' marriage?
Coming from excellent lineage, Draco has never had to want for anything. Throughout his childhood, being Lucius Malfoy's son was a blessing, an advantage. As the war raged on and Lucius was imprisoned, it became a burden. Now, he seeks to prove that Draco Malfoy is more than simply the son of Lucius and Narcissa. He has spent the time since his escape away from his parents, seeing them and the world through his own eyes, the eyes of a man.
He has become a man, though he is only now beginning to see what that means. He knows he'll have to redefine his relationship with his parents. He loves them, but he doesn't want to be a child any longer. He isn't entirely certain about how to go about this as he has always enjoyed his father's wealth and does not wish to lose access to his own funds, despite the fact that he appears to have complete control over his own vault. After all, one could never trust Lucius Malfoy, and if one person knew that completely, it was his son.
Lifestyle Recently returned to his affluent status, he is again living the life to which he was accustomed prior to the war.
Occupation: Currently unemployed, though he is considering pursuing a career in conveyancing. After the war and the Ministry's current position, he has no desire to pursue governmental positions.
Residence: He has moved out on his own, but knows that an invitation to return to Malfoy Manor is waiting. It is a matter of what it would cost to return and what it would gain him.
Financial Status: Affluent. He has his own vault in Gringotts courtesy of his much belated custody of his trust fund.
History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time: include any affiliations since Hogwarts, jobs, family life, significant events in the character's recent history, how was this character affected by the war, how does your character feel about the present political climate?
Draco enjoyed the life a prince should have while he was at Hogwarts. From being seeker on the Slytherin quidditch team to being a prefect his fifth year and on the Inquisitorial Squad.
His sixth year, however, his life changed drastically. After his father was incarcerated in Azkaban, Draco's status plummeted. He was charged with the murder of Albus Dumbledore by Lord Voldemort and spent what would end up being his final year at Hogwarts paranoid and obsessed. When he could not cast the final curse, the killing curse upon Dumbledore, something in him changed forever, though despite his continued contemplation, he has been unable to come up with a suitable answer as to what it was. He fled with Severus Snape, until his failure was discovered by the Dark Lord.
Taken into custody, Draco was tormented and tortured with real pain and illusioned torture of his parents due to his failure. In that time, Voldemort attempted to re-educate Draco into the image of what a proper pureblood would be. What he ensured was that Draco viewed him with fear and contempt. What he also managed to make sure of was that Draco viewed everyone with distrust. No one came to rescue him. In the end, he could only rely on himself, and the images of his childhood to hold him through.
After escaping, he remembers being in St. Mungo's, but the details of how he got there or even most of his time there are decidedly vague. Severus helped get him out of St. Mungo's and he was grateful, if suspicious. The collar did not help his comfort level at all though he pretended it did. He never understood why Severus waited that long before helping him escape, why he couldn't prevent the torture, or at least rescue him earlier?
After living with Severus, he ended up having more and more contact with Potter, and through the soul-searching of a wounded child, he rebelled, moving in with the complete antithesis of everything he'd been raised to believe in. Whether he actually wanted to push Severus away completely, he'd never really thought through prior to doing so.
However, having set in motion moving in with Potter, he knew he'd cut ties and burned bridges with his parents and Severus. So he moved in with his nemesis. That proved to be a mistake.
He's now left them and moved out on his own. For the past two and a half months especially, he's spent life as a hermit. Draco has refused, to now, to get the device that would allow him more freedom of movement. He has continued his Ministry required visits, and curfews. It has been his one of his only interactions with the outside world while he did a great deal of thinking.
His 21st birthday was spent alone, drinking and thinking about his life. He'd gotten so thoroughly pissed he nearly missed his Ministry appointment the next day. The move had been intentional and deliberate, though now he's begun questioning whether it was done to heal or if it was another act of rebellion.
After his birthday, he began to look into conveyancing as a career. He has found it to be lucrative and something for which he has a natural talent, though no official steps have been taken thus far.
How does he/she feel about the more infamous events and people in the world around him/her? Harry Potter and his victory over Voldemort?
Harry was lucky. While he may not speak about it, Draco has always resented Harry's ability to turn dumb luck into fame.
Dumbledore and his murder by Severus Snape?
Draco feels he was weak that night and has never forgiven himself. Because of failing, he had no place in either world. He was seen attempting Dumbledore's murder, so the Ministry considers him a threat. Yet, he was unable to perform, and so the Dark Lord ensured he knew he was not entirely worth keeping, but that the pureblood in his veins kept him alive.
Lucius Malfoy's pardon and book publication?
Draco is irritated at the publication. He had no doubt his father would finagle a pardon. To make such a spectacular publicity stunt out of it though, did astound him.
Snape's pardon and appointment back to his old job at Hogwarts?
Draco viewed Snape's pardon with suspicion. He wants to trust Severus, but the time at Voldemort's hands has jaded him against his once professor. If it was machined, he thinks it brilliant, but Severus seems to have softened or never fully been behind Voldemort, and that question makes Draco wonder and remain confused.
The Registry?
The Registry is everything the Ministry and the Order claimed was wrong about pureblood politics reversed and set upon the purebloods. It proves the Ministry is nothing but a set of hypocrites and cowards.
Werewolf Remus Lupin's job at Hogwarts?
He's carefully avoided thinking too much about this change in events. He doesn't want to have to make a decision on this as he has survived the past year by abstaining from nearly all political commentary. He sees it as a Ministry concession to the collar Remus wears, and after living with Remus and other werewolves, his views have been threatened. What he's not sure yet, is if he's comfortable enough with his position to defend it publicly.
Bellatrix' capture, insanity defence, followed by her "cure" and release from St. Mungo's? etc.
Of course Aunt Bellatrix would manage to get out of Azkaban. If anyone could work up an insanity plea and subsequent "cure" it would be her. Draco remembers her teaching him occlumency and legilimency his sixth year after her prior stint in Azkaban. Those are skills he has been practicing since they parted company.
What plots would you like to pursue with this character? What short and long-term goals does the character have for his/her future?
First and foremost, Draco has been estranged from his parents. During the most formative years for his political views he has not been with them, nor with any who shared the pureblood supremacy view. He is a man grown now, and I'd like to see how things will come to pass with him asserting his manhood to his parents.
He also wants to reconnect with Severus, though he's very nervous about that prospect. However, he views Severus as a much more level head than his own father and he's been considering the pros and cons of the device that would allow him to no longer have the curfew and wand checks.
Long term, I'd like to see him look for a wife and pursue a courtship which I have no doubt will be fraught with designs and machinations. I'd love to see if he would find love or simply contentment in his pureblooded marriage or, if he would follow in his traitorous aunt's steps and become a blood traitor. Not likely, but it would be interesting to see what happens when Draco finds that he has time for love.
His goals currently revolve around re-establishing his place at Malfoy Manor and the Wizarding World at large. He still harbors the need to prove himself to his father, and having nothing to show for his time apart aside from the Registry device and a history of having lived with undesirables is not remotely success.
He has come to the decision that it is time he start to work on his place in the world and his future. Being tempered by experience, he's learned that he may have to compromise to get what he wants, something he's not entirely sure he's prepared to fight his parents over.
Once you start playing the game and get a feel for your fellow players and characters, assuming the interaction is favourable, how long could you anticipate staying with this character and this game? What is your usual pattern of longevity in role-playing games?
I tend to stay in games as long as they're running. I've left them only after I've given up beating a dead horse, essentially. I anticipate, if the interaction is as I expect, staying quite some time. I am a writer and would love to see Draco continue to grow and excel.
What is your usual pattern of availabilty and play-time for a character and game which you enjoy?
When I truly love who I am playing and what I am playing, I have been able to reasonably give an hour or two a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but generally speaking. My work schedule changes, and as I am a wife and mother, I tend not to occasionally need to live real life.
Now that we've got a sense of your characterization, this is where you get to really showcase your writing style! Give us everything you've got! Remember--this sample must be a 'fresh' sample relevant to our game and the current setting.
Sample Journal Entry:
[Private to Self]
I've done it. I've made the steps to reconnect with my parents and Severus. I sent owls to all of them this morning, though my hands shook as I wrote. I know that I need to see them, to talk to all of them, to find out the truth, if they'll tell me. If they won't, then perhaps things are best left abandoned. I can't say that's the desired result, but I certainly know it to be a possibility.
What will I do if I don't keep them? Will the Malfoy name become a curse? I still don't have answers for everything I've wondered. I don't know if any of them will even respond. Not that I could honestly say I would blame them. I just want to know.
I need to know if they are the people I once believed them to be.
I wonder what my father would say if he knew of my plans to not follow his footsteps further. I want nothing to do with the Ministry. In the end, money is power, and I've seen that proven so clearly to me in these past years. He's always wanted me to be his protege, his true and loyal son. But I've seen a world he couldn't dream of, a world he never prepared for me, and I can only pretend so far that it didn't change me.
My mother...what to say of the woman who held me...the woman who always made sure I felt loved? Has she given up on me? Perhaps it is her love I need more than father's approval. But will she have eligible girls waiting for my proposal, or will she tell me that my having lived with Potter is the final blow? She supported me while I remained with Severus, but then, I even betrayed his honor, his trust.
Severus was always there, except when he wasn't, except when I was being informed of my misdeeds, my failings by Volde HIM. I know now that he was always more than he seemed, but is that a good thing? Should I reach out to him as the father he tried to be for me? To do so might give me more standing in this new world, but would that effort be enough to replace the loss of power the Malfoy name grants me?
I suppose I should attempt something resembling sleep tonight. Another few drinks should be enough to make my hands stop shaking, my head stop hurting. Another few drinks to chase the nightmares away, to keep me from screaming myself awake.
And maybe, tomorrow will be better. It has to be. It needs to get better. I can't continue this path alone.

Sample Third Person Writing:
Draco took a deep breath as he continued to walk up the steps to Spinner's End. The day was muggy and the sun was beating down on his black robes. He stopped halfway to the house, staring up at it. It wasn't really that intimidating, the structure, anyway. It was the man inside that made his insides crumble and slip through the cracks in the stone beneath his feet.
Severus had responded to his letter with the usual perfunctory cold politeness he reserved for acquaintances or those for whom he had no warmth no compassion for. Draco now was counted among those. He had betrayed Severus' hospitality, his friendship and respect for what? His pride. Pride alone had kept him to the plan to move in with Potter after Skeeter's inflaming article. Pride now forced his feet to start moving. He would show his mentor, even before his father, that he was a man full grown, ready to accept the consequences of his actions.
As he reached the front stoop, the sun no longer beat on him, having been overcome by the storm that was brewing. He allowed himself one wry smirk at the weather reflecting his mood until his thoughts were interrupted by Granger's voice talking about some Muggle author who used the weather in his stories to accent the mood of the story. His smirk faded immediately and he sighed loudly.
He had business to discuss with Severus, an apology and a request for advice. Only briefly did he consider backing out. He dismissed the thought as childish and knocked on the door with more resolve than he imagined being able to muster at that moment.
As the door opened, he took one last breath, "Good afternoon, Severus. May I come in?"
