Plot hole?

So. I was watching Inception earlier today, and I realized that there's a bit of plot hole, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me imagining stuff. When the team goes into Yusuf's dream, Dom says that it's a "week" at that level and that they'd all be dead by the end of the week, which would lead to spending time in limbo

I think we're meant to assume that since Fisher is no longer threatened (by kidnappers or his 'uncle') or bothered (by the possibility of dreaming, since he's now probably sure he's awake) and apparently he has been incepted (and is therefore distracted by the idea of breaking up his father's company and making his own way in the world), his projections will no longer be in Attack Mode. The rest of the week passes uneventfully, until the timer runs out.

That or going down that many levels somehow burns up the sedative faster, and they're able to kick or kill their way to consciousness. *shrugs*

Yeah, I'd always gone with "not threatened, hanging out for a week" to cover for that gaping hole. Though the issue of Fisher being aware or keeping him amused and unthreatened in a limited maze for a week also has it's issues. I like your idea of burning through the sedative faster than expected.

Well even if it has nothing to do with Fischer's mind being more relaxed and in thought because of Inception, at the very least the team isn't hanging out trying to mess with his mind anymore. I would think if they kept their distance and didn't change much, or draw attention to themselves, they'd be fine. Remember, it's when Ariadne was altering things that the projections started to get antsy.

I assumed that once they leave Fischer alone in the 1st level, the subconscious security would let up. The first level looked pretty expansive, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had a pretty elaborate maze and a safe house. I guess they just hang out for a week, see how Fischer takes the inception, and wait for the sedative to wear off. The whole setup would make for some great fic, it's a shame it's not explored more in the fandom.
