Friends, I wish it was that simple!

I like Billy not really explaining himself properly the first time, talking past Cate, and she's a little annoyed, that works so well. And sets up later misunderstandings, I expect.

"Back to the walls, yeah? Back inside." Billy murmurs then, coaxing the car out of the lot and onto the road for the short drive they have left. "Back home safe."

Not safe yet, Billy: you've got yourself in deep water.

Some things for Cate will never change; her desires, her needs, but Billy doesn't know any of that, not yet, and she feels she'll be able to both show and tell him when the time is right. Cate's not just looking for another plaything; she wants a man, a partner who will give himself to her, and to whom she can give herself in return. Billy could possibly be that man.

Danger! Danger! This is a dangerous game Billy is playing here.
But ahh...what a grand game all the same.

Hi, I have been re-reading and catching up and didn't mean to comment until I was fully caught up, but omg. I just had to tell you how torn I am feeling about this. Because omg I love Cate so very very much here, she's just brilliant and sexy and such a wonderful, complex character, and this chapter was just... god, the chemistry between these two. Under any other circumstances I'd love it, but then I remember Dominic and it just breaks my heart ( ... )
