EMMA. Second only to how much I love Scott/Allison is Lydia/Allison, and I just want this fandom to have better priorities aka yours. I'm not sure if this was intentional - but when Allison grinds out "She's my best friend" to someone else that isn't Lydia, it just makes me feel like Lydia sees Allison's attention and care for Scott and has a harder time seeing it for herself - Lydia isn't Scott, but she's not insignificant to Allison either. But Lydia would look at Allison and measure things, she can't help it - and sees that she can't have all of Allison and has to be okay with settling. I just really love that Lydia doesn't need to study test material so she studies people instead. The bowling and Scott makeout segments were PERFECT - She thinks: Allison was here. She thinks: this is the closest I’ll ever get. - like, actual death on my part.

PAULINE. I want fandom to have my priorities, too, I don't understand why don't simply cater to my interests. I do think Lydia measures things, especially since she's so good at math and science, particularly? The idea that there is a concrete answer and you can't have things both ways: it's A or B or C. And Lydia is important to Allison, but Allison was never taught to be really open with her feelings and affection, and I don't think she's ever really had solid friends before, since she moved around so much, so it's entirely new and foreign to her. And Lydia catches onto that, to an extent--she's also good with people!--but she's very aware she can't have all of Allison, and ultimately she accepts that. Wow I have no idea if this comment makes sense/is saying what I want it to, but i'm glad you liked this!
