Totally taking/crediting your icons of Johan Liebert and M-21! :)
In a comment you left on a previous entry, you recommended Samurai Champloo for me to see. I'm on episode 7 of this series, and so far I love seeing the three main characters--Mugen, Jin, and Fuu--interact. The hip hop soundtrack is great. And the fight sequences are excellent. ♥
I knew I was going to enjoy Samurai Champloo as soon as I saw the opening credits of the first episode. The credits showed that Kazuto Nakazawa was the chief animation director! I previously saw his fairy tale anime short film Kigeki, and I was impressed by how elegant and dreamy the quick night fight scene looked in that film. Have you seen Kigeki? If you haven't, here's the full 10-min film below:
Kigeki opens with the hero whispering a scary threat directed at an innocent person in the film. *shudder*
I love Samurai Champloo's fighting sequences. They are beyond stunning. Oh wow I have never heard of that! I admire the animation director of Samurai Champloo but it never crossed my mind to see what other work he has done!
I loved this short film. Seriously. I am amazed by everything. It was beautiful, haunting, and yet touching. The knife scene was superb! Thank-you for sharing this with me! ;a; It made my day♥
