You attribute the survival of the few holocaust survivors to being cheap and anal retentive? Looks like somebody needs to spend a little less time in the church and a little more time in the library. Whether you aknowledge the stereotype or not, your comments are uninformed and biggoted.

I find it interesting that you make such an insensitive comment seemingly without a thought, and then go on to chastize people for being pig-headed, ignorant, and lacking of common sense.

How ironic. Or is it hypocritical?

Btw: You say you're not "holier than thou", but why didn't you attribute God to the holocaust survivors? It would seem to be the first thing a religious person would do, yet you somehow leave it out of the equation when it comes to Jewish people. Something more for you to pray for perhaps?

I have a good idea who this is from, but it's not worth confirming. inconvnientfact April 12 2005, 00:33:28 UTC
Let me elaborate on the Holocaust Statement. I said it with little sleep, and without much elaboration, and I apologize for that. An example of what I was reffering to is how Jews in concentration camps had to be "stingy" and strong willed in order to survive. A good example of this is the father character in "Maus" 1 and 2 (You can find them at that-thar Libeeeery). He was a holocaust survivor, seemingly as anal as they come, would penny pinch, drive his son (a fictional character that portrays his real son, art spiegleman) crazy with his idosyncrasies, etc. By the end of the story (after hearing many moving, albeit grandiose, accounts of the camps), the son realized that it was these "annoying" qualities that allowed his father to ration, barter, work/talk his way up with the compos in the camps, etc. The meak did not survive. Also refer to the work of Borowski on the matter. I believe you can find those works at the Library as well. :) The Holocaust was a horrible tragedy that I was in no way belittling ( ... )
