[Unseen, a pained grimace contorts Adachi's plain features as he listens to the response. He has been, for the most part, silent since returning to Demeleier, his world having been largely occupied with bed rest, Valeria, and thoughts pertaining to the reality of his fate on the other side. To hear Seta speaking so evenly to him, the boy who would have destroyed -- will destroy -- Adachi's future...?

Adachi had imagined himself becoming furious, losing control and slipping into that chasm Annowre seemed to have pried open within him. Instead, he finds himself drawing back from a confrontation. He's wary, apprehensive, careful. He needs to find a loophole. This boy is the key.

So he says, unable to conceal the childish, sullen tone:]

Exactly.

[He refrains from reminding Seta that, regardless of their origin, he can control these lesser Shadow in much the same way he could in the TV World. The boy's naive, but he isn't an idiot; he probably already knows.]

[ The feed starts just in time to catch the tail end of an Amorous Snake's death cry accompanied by a crisp wisp of offensive flame. Despite the solidity of the victory, it takes Valeria a few minutes to collect herself and catch enough of her breath to actually speak. When she does, there's an audible smile in her voice. ]

Careful? I'm always careful!

[ She laughs lightly, as though she hadn't just found herself in a somewhat risky situation. ]

Make sure Geri doesn't throw a fit with all the commotion going on outside, okay? I'll be back as soon as I've picked up the water and caught dinner.

I remember hearing somewhere that animals are more sensitive to changes in the environment, natural or otherwise. He's probably just acting out to try to get me to come back sooner. I'll give him a talking to once I am, though.

[ Fast footfalls can be heard in the background. She's moving swiftly over the terrain, moving from trap to trap. ]

Remind me to brush up on my trap-making skills after this is over, will you? I keep forgetting that I have to worry about the wildlife and the fae getting into them.
