“I did not lose the cake!” Chloe stated putting her hands on her hips as she glared at the man in front of her.
“Whoa, ‘licious all I’m saying is you should have more evidence before you go accusing someone of stealing. I said you probably misplaced them, not lost them, who loses cake?” Bart stated crossing his arms in front of his chest trying to clarify what he had said.
“Probably the same person that misplaces them!” Chloe shot back. Before Bart could respond, Chloe grabbed his face with her hand squeezing his cheeks together and angled his face towards the microwave. “Do you still want to deny not knowing where the cake went?” She asked looking into the microwaves reflection, her eyes trained on the white icing spot just under Bart’s mouth.
Shrugging sheepishly Bart lowered his head.
Chloe let go of his face and grabbed a towel of the counter and whipped Bart’s face, watching as he grew red from embarrassment. Without turning around she said “You can stop hiding now.”
The others shared a look of shock from their places behind the doorframe. There was no way Chloe had known they were there unless she had Clark’s super hearing or x-ray vision. When she cleared her throat loudly and proceeded to tap her foot the two shared dejected looks before standing up. Sheepishly AC and Mia shuffled into the kitchen looking like children who had just been caught spying by their mother.
Chloe didn’t say anything just stood there with her hands upon her hips and gave them a disappointed look. Chloe didn’t blink as she stared at them watching as they each lowered their head to avoid her gaze. She didn’t say anything as she walked out of the kitchen, a smirk growing on her face.
She heard the mutter of “This is all your fault” as she walked away.
“You’re mean sidekick.” Oliver Queen said wrapping his arm around Chloe’s shoulder. It still amazed him after all these months how her body fit perfectly into his.
“Why Ollie, I have no idea what you are implying.” Chloe said lifting her head to look up at him, an innocent look on her face.
“Really? Because I find it convenient that there is another cake in the fridge. Plus you never leave food lying around when you know Bart is coming over.”
Chloe didn’t respond, but her mouth pulled into a smile.
“Foods here!” She yelled as she saw Victor, John, and Dinah enter the room caring the bags of take out.
Bart used his super speed to dart towards his friends, taking the bags and having the food set on the table before the others had a chance to exit the kitchen.
Oliver watched as his friends started to take their places around the table that was set up in watchtower. This wasn’t business; there was no trouble that required their attendance, just the normal weekly dinner that had somehow become routine in their lives.
Oliver leaned down and kissed Chloe gently on the mouth.
“Gross it’s like watching our parent make out.” Bart said, disgust written all over his face.
“Totally.” Mia said sharing the same disgusted look.
Chloe rolled her eyes and grabbed his hand as she led him to the table, where they took their seats and slipped into ridiculous conversations.
As Oliver watched Chloe throw her head back and laugh and something Bart said, he was glad he had taken Hawk mans advice and stopped acting like a jerk to push people away. Because sitting there, with his family he was the happiest he could remember being in a long time.
