Summary: There was nothing more beautiful than witnessing you in such a peaceful state- free, and uninhibited. Lost, and yet content with your lack of direction.

There's something about watching the sunrise with you, peacefully perched atop the rooftop of your apartment building, that forces the birds out an hour too soon- yearning to join in on the beauty that falls from the strings of your acoustic.

Something that makes time seem like an unnatural occurrence- a miracle but a nuisance all the same.

It makes lithe fingers unable to stop themselves from running through the messy, freshly bleached locks atop your head. And digits unable to stop messing with the hem of your t-shirt.

There was nothing more beautiful than witnessing you in such a peaceful state- free, and uninhibited. Lost, and yet content with your lack of direction.

You laugh when I point it out, and I almost regret speaking as the strumming of your instrument slowly comes to a halt.

"It's not that I'm lost," you say, eyes lowering and I tilt my head to catch your gaze. "It's not even that I'm a free spirit, or anything. I'm just careless. I break rules and I wander aimlessly because I like causing trouble. Life is too short to think of restrictions."

"People who think like that," I start, grinning fondly as you still have your gaze set away from me, "are usually the ones who get sent to jail."

"Well. If your morals are any good, that shouldn't be a worry." It was a serious answer that contradicted the amused smirk upon your features and you finally looked to me, winding an arm around my shoulders to bring me closer. "Stop thinking so much."

I nod, but I don't really mean it.

"Only if you keep playing."
