Inspired by a random email, I updated some of my interests today since I don't think I had changed them much in over a year. Perhaps I will update them more later.
I feel like going out on a limb . . . are you a musician? Have you ever met Dan Harrison? I believe he's now teaching theory at Yale. I was a student of his when he was teaching at the University of Rochester.
I'm a music major at Yale, and I started taking a theory class from him, but I dropped it because (a) it was at 9 AM and (b) I was frustrated that the homework never had anything to do with what was going on during the class period. For instance, the first day he spent the whole time talking about phrases and then asked us to set the Star-Spangled Banner to new text. Shouldn't we have been talking about text setting? Anyways, I was very impressed with his piano skills and he seemed like a very knowledgeable guy, and I think I might shop a seminar of his this fall.
There's really only one type of music major at Yale, so I'm that. But really, I'm planning on going to grad school for music history. My main instrument is voice, with viola as a secondary and I'm trying to learn to play the piano these days.
