I am hoping too. Of all the adaptations they choose, they of course had to choose Bleach. It's right up there with DBZ in the world of BAD DECISIONS. Putting racebending and character assination (because having a strong girl give power to a guy? NO WAY, CAN'T HAPPEN) aside, it will just look ridiculously goofy as a serious live-action movie. And if they put all their budget into special effects, they'll cast shitty (and white lol) actors. Total fail.
I know, all I can think is "this shit is going to be worst than DBZ Evolution and man, that movie was already ALL KIND OF BAD!!!
I'm seriously weeping. Even the Japanese fans are like "lol, no please" in 2chan.
Also, to complete the horrific painting:
Warner Bros. has acquired live-action feature rights to Tite Kubo's manga and anime property "Bleach," which will be adapted by "Wrath of the Titans" scribe Dan Mazeau.
Peter Segal ("Get Smart") will produce with an eye toward possibly directing.
I have no word at how can anyone that this is a good idea.
They will take everything that is good about Bleach and turn it into some soulless, vapid, action-centric thing and force their idea of ~JAPAN~ into it, ugh.
I have a feeling it will also feature Orihime as a strong contender for ~Ichigo's heart and play up the whole love triangle. Or worse, make an alternate storyverse with Orihime as the love interest? (Like CLAMP'S Angelic Layer! Like an AU! or something) Don't get me wrong, I love Orihime, but I hate it when her storyline is tied up with her being in love with Ichigo (I think it's something that makes me grow up, but ultimately I don't think they are good together? Her interactions with other characters are so much more delightful etc thoughtssss) but I remember seeing someone blog about how she and Ichigo represent a more Westernized idea of love and their story aahhhh now I'm confused
Your thoughts on Orihime/Ichigo and how it represents a more Westernized idea of love remind me that whenever I watch American tv shows, I always, ALWAYS ship the wrong thing and cannot wrap my head around why the pairing would get together. But I always seem to ship the right (read: canon) stuff when it comes to things like anime, kdramas, etc. Putting aside multiships and crackships, of course. :3
What is with the fixation on Chuck/Blair-type relationships? I mean, I for one enjoyed Cathy/Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, but I too recognised their love as destructive and unwholesome and never thought of it as a ~romantic story~ the way a lot of people do. I hate how most American TV shows seem to seem to have fun randomly matching people together and breaking them up throughout a series? I DON'T GET IT.
Also, it's this entry, if you're interested. I only skimmed through it, but the writer is a hardcore I/R shipper so it's more than a bit biased. There's always a lot of heavy-handed discussion posts in bleachness, sigh...

I already grieve the slaughter of characters.
Also, no way they'll like Rukia, because, tiny, no boobs, too much personality, too complex.
BLARGH.
