Aww, I loved it! Yay for cute baby Elfwine! I love the Artemis/Indes friendship interaction and how they still spar. Also, Marshal Beorn? Did someone get a promotion? ;)

Glad you enjoyed! I was worried because it felt a bit rushed but the A/B just wasn't going anywhere so I dashed this one off.

Artemis and Elfwine will have bromance for life, I'm calling it now. So much she has to teach him when he gets older.

My theory is that Eomer, when establishing himself as king after the war, would want to surround himself with men he trusted in high positions. After all, the first thing King Arthur did after he pulled the sword from the stone was to name his foster brother Kay a knight. So yes, promotions for Beorn and Ceorl, certainly, and probably Aldor and Drew too (were there any other young Rohirric men in SG?). Hyderic has taken a new lad to apprentice, a little war orphan from the Westfolds called Bram (I'm picturing him as Rickon from Game of Thrones) and has resigned himself that his son will probably not be taking over the smithy when he dies.

It didn't feel rushed! :)

Oh yes. I mean, it's Artemis's first real prolonged exposure to fully human babies so she'll just latch on a bit. Artemis will be a cool Aunt (I mean, her niece was Finduilas and her nephew was Gil-Galad, so she already has an impressive resume of Auntness)

While it makes sense for Eomer to promote Beorn, I can't say that Artemis would be happy about it in the slightest. She signed on to be a blacksmith's wife and a wife to someone who she has a guarantee that he'll come home every night and won't be called off to take care of some orcs in the Folds somewhere. I also feel like when Beorn would be gone for stretches of time riding off to war with Eomer, Artemis would just have a very hard time coping. Rohan isn't really her home and while she does have relationships with Indes and others, I don't think just those relationships would be enough to keep sea-longing at bay.

I think at some point, after everything had calmed down and stabilised, Beorn would request a post in Edoras. Ceorl was always the wanderer of the two of them and the only attachments he has are good friends, not familial ones, so it makes sense for him to get the travelling gigs. Possibly Beorn could head up the Queensguard after a time? It's not out of his way, he has spent most of his life watching Indes' back.
