You'd never survive in the South- the number of times I've had to bite my tongue to keep from pointing out all sorts of errors.... The worst lately is I noticed an incorrect 'it's' on a public flyer printed and distributed by Whole Foods corporate people, meaning it had to have passed at least two editors and innumerable lackeys and print-slaves. Oy.

I would also like to point out that around here, "could of done" is not only grammatically correct, but a complete sentence, as in: "Hey Bubba, is that your truck I saw with the [insert Nascar driver] sticker? You know he's a [insert perjorative and/or anatomical term]" "Dunno, could of done."

interesting. i'd forgotten about that. i've heard it used somewhere before but had forgotten about it. speech is one thing, but if you're going to put sentences in print, it seems more obvious what is correct and incorrect.
the sign: ridiculous!
oy! though i don't think that sort of thing is limited to the south. i've seen my share of plurals that have erroneous apostrophes.
