Wow, that was really deep. I had one of those when I living with my mom in Harvey. I think I reacted a lot worse, but I'm glad that you had your epiphany. And I think you have nothing to hide.

Remembering when you told me this story on the phone, and now re-reading it, it is still very inspiring and moving. I am very impressed you came to such an enormous realization about yourself and the world through such a small observation. It's true that a lot of us keep from others those things that seem to demean our worth. Given, you don't want everyone to see your flaws, but I think once trust is gained and a deep relationship is achieved, there is a sense of comfort in that you know the other won't leave once you've revealed your 'full' self to them. Other times people just cover up completely, and even in times of crisis, continue to put up a false front that most times, is easy to see through. (Though, this can sometimes be others' true personalities as well). I think, overall, it is important to be honest and open with those that you trust. If people discard you because of who you are, wholly, than it truly isn't worth your time of day to try to be something other than what you are ( ... )
